Pros Great Design, Compact, Good Value

sony clie pda My boyfriend and i both bought matching ones.  They are easy to use.  I did not like how you could not use a memory stick duo on them that was the only real big drawback for me.  They hold up fairly well. They are fun for the price. Read full review »

8 Helpfuls 9 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Good color screen, durable screen, access spreadsheets
Cons It quit working after 1.5 years due to internal problem.
Recommended it? No

I got one of these after my father in law raved about his. He liked it a bunch and I have a hard time remembering phone numbers so I decided to try it. I liked that it had an expansion memory spot and I could hold spreadsheet data in addition to always having a calculator. It took a little bit of... Read full review »

A good, basic PDA; main use as a planner, phonebook, etc.

byjanana Nov 24, 2004
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Good, basic, dependable PDA.
Cons Not as synch-able as we'd hoped.
Recommended it? Yes

My husband and I purchased PDAs because, between our kids' extracurricular stuff, and our work and volunteer schedules, our schedule is crazy! Keeping our paper calendars and planners cross-referenced was taking way too much time. So we bought a pair of these Clie's, with the idea that we would... Read full review »

For right now, a great buy

bygoogam Jun 9, 2004
8 Helpfuls 9 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros A great screen; easy to read.
Cons It's a PDA, not a multimedia experience.
Recommended it? Yes

I use my PDA as a personal computer. I have my phone numbers, daily schedule, recipes, meeting notes, and monthly reports on my PDA. But my sweet Handspring Edge is hard to read. When I saw that the Sony SJ22, with a bright, color display, was available for only $85, I snapped it up.

Pros Nice screen color
Cons Battery life is terrible and doesn't sync with Outlook
Recommended it? No

I had 2 Palm Pilots before I decided to try an upgraded color screen PDA. I was disappointed when I found it didn't sync with Outlook but found great software to do the job (Beyond Contacts). But- the battery life is terrible. I have it sitting in a cradle in my office all day and I take it out to... Read full review »

A Wholly Handy Handheld!

bymkuehn May 18, 2004
4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Small, light, adequate for pretty heavy use.
Cons Some weird Japanese to English translations. Not upgradeable to Palm OS 5.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this handheld to keep track of time at client sites, and to keep my contacts always at-hand. And it does both of these things easily.

Like any other Palm OS device, you can install a myriad of software titles on the SJ22. Each one I tried installed and operated without any... Read full review »

Great PDA

bysheila93 Feb 4, 2004
4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Low price, built-in screen flap
Cons None that I can think of!
Recommended it? Yes

This PDA CAN be synched with Outlook. If these people who are saying it won't would just take the time to read the manual or check the support pages at the Sony website, they wouldn't be putting up these bad reviews. I synch mine just fine with Outlook and Outlook Express and it replies fine to... Read full review »

Cons too much to fit. read review below...

lol i think i put that in the pro/con.
Overall a nice palm for data management but for entertainment (audio/vidio/games etc) its useless.
I love the size, it fits nicely in a shirt pocket or back jeen pocket (don't set on it though :) )
The display is great but you should consider... Read full review »

Ate ALL my data!

byknutson Jan 22, 2004
2 Helpfuls 3 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Nice GUI, small, bright screen.
Cons Once the power goes away, so does your DATA!
Recommended it? No

I bought the SJ22 to replace a Palm product with an on switch that broke after 2.5 years of use. I was looking for a straightforward palm device with a decent GUI and the SJ22 delivered. Unfortunately, it has some serious shortcomings that have motivated me to discourage people from purchasing it... Read full review »

Pros Excellent entry Palm with MASSIVE on board memory (16 MB).
Cons Can't mount stick directly without third party software.
Recommended it? Yes

I am writing you this because I have researched this and other models only to be told that it is not compatible with Macintosh OS X. Well, the solution was "missing sync" from Mark/Space...oh so that is what they want you to believe...
I bought it thinking I would need to spend another 30... Read full review »

Good inexpensive color PDA - Software just ok.

bygrayfair Jan 2, 2004
3 Helpfuls 4 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Good price for Color PDA, fits in pocket, easy to use, nice Palm desktop software.
Cons Included software could be a bit better, limited sync capability, no cradle
Recommended it? Yes

Bought it for $150 new. It's a nice buy for the price - fully functional COLOR PDA offering Address, Datebook, Email, Calculator, Image storage, To Do list, Memo Pad, etc. Includes USB cable to connect to computer, not cradle. Don't know about battery life yet.

This is my first PDA... Read full review »

Pros Don't know yet.
Cons The Intellisync scam.
Recommended it? No

I am very disappointed with this purchase. None of the documentation mentioned that I needed Intellisync Lite software to sync with Outlook. Cons Alarm not loud enough

Paid: $84.40 before tax ($130 less 12% less $30 rebate) at Staples, including a free case.

I'm upgrading from a Clie T-415, monochrome with 8M. Previously, I've used a Palm III and a PalmPilot Personal. I've also used the PC-based simulator. For the price, the SJ-22 seems like a fine... Read full review »

Cons Screen is hard to read in bright sunlight.

I received the PDA as a gift. I found it easy to set up and use. The applications bundled with it are very good. Make sure you explore the CD that comes with it to make sure you take advantage of all the software that comes with it.
I use the Infra-Red port on my laptop to hot sync, so I don't... Read full review »

Doesn't work with Outlook

bysonyhater99 Sep 9, 2003
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Don't know -- it went right back in the box.
Recommended it? No

DO NOT buy this model if you need to sync it with Microsoft Outlook. It doesn't do it unless you spend an additional $70 on Intellisync software from Pumatech. Unfortunately, I didn't find that out until after I bought it and spent forever looking for instructions on Outlook sync. It would be nice... Read full review »

One reviewer, see "Top Reviewer", has extensively written about the features of of the Sony SJ22 so I am not going to go into details of the units operation. Suffice to say, that I have had this unit for two months and do not have any complaints.

My likes are the color screen, ease of use... Read full review »

Super Cool, but Missing Software

byredlum Jul 23, 2003
9 Helpfuls 10 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Smaller, lighter and faster than my old Visor
Cons Missing Software for Macintosh
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this to replace my old Handspring Visor Deluxe. The speed and display are what sold me. It's also smaller and lighter than my old Visor, and I really like the jog navigation so I can scroll through without using the pen.

One major problem though - it only comes with PC software... Read full review »
