Pros Great Graphics
Cons Controls

Think you know the real scoop on Dreamcast, and Sonic......well trust me you are going to want to know this
Let me start off my saying that I was not looking forward to Sega's Dreamcast thinking that really only N64 could provide good games of every possible area. I was wrong. Esp. in... Read full review »

Sonic looks pretty good in 3D

Pros Awesome Graphics, High Replayability, good music
Cons lousy camera work, no out to the movies
Recommended it? Yes

After Sega completely fell off the console map with the Saturn-a platform that they didn't even release a Sonic game for, they needed something big to give the Dreamcast the push it needed to get people to spend 200 dollars on it. Enter their little blue flagship, Sonic and his friends(some old,... Read full review »

Sonic, the hedgehog everyone loves

Pros Good graphics, fun
Cons Can't skip the story line you've seen 32057350 times
Recommended it? Yes

I have recently received a Dreamcast and am quite impressed with the good graphics. I loved the game until after I defeated it. I would play it more often if it were possible to skip the story lines in between levels. That is the only bad thing about this game. You have to watch the story lines... Read full review »

This game is pretty sweet

Pros Graphics, the virtual pet game
Cons Voices
Recommended it? Yes

This was my first Dreamcast game. Its a good game for little and big kids, because Sonic isn't a heiny-hobbit gaybe like Mario. It has really detailed levels and they can be really huge. They also have mini games like fishing and car racing. They also have a Virtual pet kinda thing you can put on... Read full review »

A horrible Start

byJedi3921 Dec 22, 1999

Pros Good music, voices, and graphics
Cons To easy
Recommended it? No

Sonic Adventure was a horrible start to Sega Dreamcast, because Sonic Adventure is just to easy. Even though the graphics are subliminal and they have nice voices and music. Learning how to breathe is harder than learning how to play Sonic Adventure. All you have to do is learn how to press 3... Read full review »

Cons Horrible game.

I'm telling you when I played this game for the first time I was extremely excited, but then the sad reality of the games suckieness sunk in and the whole feel good mood of sonic crashed hard. The repetitive voices and annoying characters only ad to the game's annoying factors. However Sonic... Read full review »

Not worth a purchase, but fun

bygodking Dec 16, 1999

Pros Pretty pretty pretty
Cons Too short to bother buying
Recommended it? Yes

Sonic Adventure has been getting a lot of reviews comparing it to Mario 64. It's a natural comparison: take the mascot games of two major competitors and see which is better - not difficult because they're both platform games in a new 3D environment. And most of these reviews have trumpeted Sonic... Read full review »

The Mutant Hedgehog is Back to stay

byenigma_13 Dec 15, 1999

Pros Everything you have come to expect froma Sonic Team production, and more
Cons NONE
Recommended it? Yes

Our favorite Mutant Hedgehog is back for more action on the Sega Dreamcast console. Along with Tails, his high flying two tailed friend, The Sonic Team of Sega has added some "fresh meat" to the giant vat that we Sega lovers call Sonic the Hedgehog. These newcomers are; Big the cat, Amy, E-102... Read full review »

Pros everything even associated with it
Cons none at all
Recommended it? Yes

Some people bought their Dreamcasts to play Soul Calibur, others to hit the gridiron with NFL2K. Not me. I was drunk on Sonic Adventure from the very first screen shot, and I don?t recall ever anticipating a game as much as I did with the return of the Big Blue. The moment I laid eyes on this... It's all right but I was slightly disappointed..

Pros More characters, more choices, more complex levels and other details..
Cons There weren't as great of graphics as we expected
Recommended it? Yes

My dad bought the Dreamcast the first day it came out (you probably saw all those 9-9-99 commercials) and as soon as he got it home we hooked it up and began playing immediately. Compared to the other Sonic games, it's pretty good, but what I was disappointed in was the graphics. It wasn't as if... Read full review »

Sonic Adventure

After several years in video game retirement, Sonic the Hedgehog returns as the star of a graphically stunning 3-D adventure game that blows away every other game in the genre. Sonic is joined by five of his friends in a massive quest that spans over 50 game levels filled with remarkable visuals and a pulsating soundtrack. Taking full advantage of the unprecedented processing power of the Dreamcast, Sega's development crew, Sonic Team, has designed several gravity-defying game levels that will keep gamers hooked. Our favorite level is Windy Valley, which requires you to survive the stormy perils of a tremendous tornado. This tyrant of nature chases you relentlessly before ultimately sucking you into the air and up through its eye. During the chase, the tornado manages to tear up just about everything on the screen. This dizzying visual spectacle moves so fast that you will literally hold on to the game controller for dear life. Assuming you survive the tornado, there are several more challenging areas to conquer, including a level that requires you to snowboard directly in the path of a fast-approaching avalanche. During the Emerald Coast level, you will race across a precarious dock as a killer whale attacks from below, destroying the wood planks underneath your feet while you attempt to outrun the crazed creature. We also liked the numerous mini-games scattered throughout this title. When you least expect it, Sonic Adventure tosses in some old-fashioned arcade action, such as pinball or bumper car racing. In between, you can raise virtual pets, known in the game as "Chao." These characters, which are saved using the optional Visual Memory Unit (VMU), can be combined with other Chao characters exchanged between friends or downloaded via the Internet. Gamers looking to show off the strong processing power of the 128-bit Dreamcast will definitely want to pick up this title. Simply put, Sonic Adventure's graphics surpass those of any other game currently available on any home video game system. Let the Sonic assault begin. --Brett Atwood Pros: Strong replay value Stunning graphics Bonus virtual pet game Six different game characters Cons: May be too fast-moving for some players Awkward camera angles can inhibit gameplay in some areas
