Pros Small, sleek, and a nice 3-line display
Cons Remote is horrid
Recommended it? Yes

Before Howard Stern declared his freedom from commercial radio, the idea of paying for radio never really enter my mind. But when Stern decided to step away from free radio and enter into the satellite radio format, I decided that I would give it a try. Other than my favorite bay area sports radio... Pros Small, lightweight and easy to use.
Cons Expensive accessories, some reception problems.
Recommended it? Yes

Over a period of about a month, I had two Sirius Starmate Receivers. Both were bought in Canada, and both were subscribed to Canadian content. The first receiver had reception problems a lot of the time, and so was quickly returned to the store. The second receiver lasted a few weeks, at which... Read full review »

Pros low price, everything included for quick easy car install, lots of features
Cons Scrolling text on display unavoidable, unit gets hot
Recommended it? Yes

I've been riding the fence on Satellite radio for almost a year now. XM vs. Sirius. Products vs. programming. I had an MP3 player, but it wasn't as quick and easy as I wanted it to be. It was more work to keep everything in order that I have to dedicate. Besides, how can you keep up on current... Read full review »

That was my thought when satalite radio first came out.
I used to get the NFL Sunday Ticket on my direc TV 3 years ago. I loved keeping up to date with all the NFL games. I have a daughter now days and signing up for a year of... Read full review »

Sirius Starmate Lousy Model for Car, Warranty is Honored Though

Pros Sirius Content, Reception, Warranty is Honored
Cons Starmate reliability, styling, too many wires, antenna magnet scratches and fades car...
Recommended it? No

My Starmate crapped out after five months and I must say the company did honor the warranty. The hard part was Radio Shack finding another Starmate in stock and being too resistant to giving me the newer model instead.

I have a 2002 Corolla and when I first bought the radio and installed,... Read full review »

Pros Price, Remote
Cons Hot, Not a docking model, Scrolling text, Car mount, Antenna connection
Recommended it? No

I have had this unit for about six months. It's my first experience with Sat radio. The first one I had lasted seven days. It stopped receiving a signal and I had to return it for another. The second one, after about a month, the car suction holder broke in half and is now useless to me.

Pros Small size, easy to read display, and customer service.
Cons Remote could be better.
Recommended it? Yes

Bought this receiver in March '05 for $100. They are much cheaper now. I have never had any problems with it. I love the small size. Despite the small size, display is easy to read. Plus, the customer service is AWESOME. The little plastic clip that holds the receiver to the car and home mount... Read full review »

Pros Clock.programmable stations,ease of operation
Cons Antenna port always loosens
Recommended it? Yes

I have had my starmate for almost a year now. I do like it alot. There are some cool features that the XM receivers don't offer. The only problem I have had and others I've talked to. Is that the antenna port seems to come loose quite a bit which causes you to lose signal. The only bad thing behind... Read full review »

Pros Tons of commercial-free music! Plus some other cool programming you won't hear...
Cons Sound quality is lousy, like bad mp3.
Recommended it? Yes

I love music, and I love sound. I'm an audio engineer and a longtime musician and I was really intrigued by satellite radio.

I like to listen to a lot of "outside the mainstream" music and I hate commercials, and I also hate the sound of overdone broadcast processing that seems to be all... Read full review »

I originally bought the satellite radio as I live in an area where we have only a small number of radio stations that all play the same crap over and over.
Since I have about a 30 min. commute every morning, I decided to try out the satellite radio.
I chose this particular unit as it has... Read full review »
