Great for airplanes, best price performance tradeoff

bykm21 Jan 8, 2004

Pros Reasonable price, well made, good noise cancelling/blocking performance, good sound.
Cons Control box can be awkward, don't block as much noise as over the ear 'phones
Recommended it? Yes

I bought some Koss over the ear noise cancelling headphones and tried them on a cross country trip. Too heavy and too uncomfortable - I took them off before the trip was over and then returned them.

Next I bought the Sony open air noise cancelling headphones (not the earbuds, the over the... Read full review »

Sennheiser PXC250 Sound Quality review.

bygoald50 Feb 19, 2006

Pros CRYSTAL CLEAR, Small, Sexy, Good Value for the Money
Cons Cumbersome battery pack and wires. Less bass kick.
Recommended it? Yes

I am a student working with Sound Engineering, music mixing, and the like. I am in the process of searching out a good pair of headphones for around $120 to $150.

I bought a pair of Sennheiser PXC250 headphones from Circuit City. The first pair I bought had a loose wire connection in the... Read full review »

Subtle At First, But They Really Make a Difference.

Pros Knocks down the noise. Good Sound. Great value.
Cons More wires. Realistic bass, but not enough for a funkmeister.
Recommended it? Yes

I would describe aircraft noise as a combination hiss, hum and roar. The PXC 250 headphones do not remove it all, but they knock out the roar, leaving only the far less fatiguing hiss and hum. And once you turn on some music, the hiss and hum disappears. They worked well mid-plane on a 767 (19A) as... Read full review »

Subpar Sound

Pros Noise cancelling works well, Portable, Very clear
Cons No BASS!, Weak BASS!, Did I mention the bass was not that good?
Recommended it? No

I recently got a pair of the Sennheiser PXC250's and was not pleased with them and returned them the following day. They are a good if you are into classical or soft type of music. However, if you also like some songs with some bass then these headphones work horribly. IMO, just get a nice pair of... Read full review »

Centrios 3319511 better value

Pros Small, compact, foldable, carrying case
Cons Uncomfortable headsets, noisy, disappointing bass response, overpriced, very large,...
Recommended it? No

I tried the Sennheiser PXC 250 Consumer Headphones and compared them with the Centrios Active Noise Cancelling Headphones. With the Sennheiser, I found lots of background noise, and unless I was VERY careful, I got a lot of crackling noise. The noise cancelling only works at low frequencies. When... Read full review »

Pros Portable, compact, comes with a nice carrying case. Great noise reduction
Cons Hard to fold up, but have to get used to them more
Recommended it? Yes

I just purchased a pair of the PXC250 from our local Circuit City and tried them out today while tanning. I had classical music on and heard some low fan noise, but nothing to be bothered by very much. I then turned off the noise canceling feature and boy was it loud. I can see that these are going... Great Fidelity, Average Noise Canceling

Pros The outstanding audio quality you would expect from Sennheiser.
Cons Don't buy these if your goal is total silence.
Recommended it? Yes

I recently purchased a pair of PCX250's for my iPod. I do quite a bit of air travel, and wanted to try some noise canceling phones. I thought seriously about the Bose, but just couldn't bring myself to spending the "Big Bucks". So, to make it short, I settled on the Sennheiser's.

I have... Read full review »

Great reduction in midrange and low-range noise

byscotteldridge Jan 10, 2006

Pros good sound at different volume levels, great NR for midrange
Cons battery pack is a bit heavy, and not detachable
Recommended it? Yes

For low volume levels (which is where I want to use them), the headphones (with noise reduction engaged) have very nice sound. Turning the noise suppression off and on is amazing. I would have said that my office was quiet as a tomb. It turns out I was just tuning out an amazing amount of machine... Read full review »

Not that good

Pros price
Cons Sound quality is below par, not comfortable, split cord for headphones.
Recommended it? No

I tried both the Sennheiser and the Bose side by side prior to making my selection. The Bose won hands down. The Bose are more comfortable and the sound quality was head and shoulders above the Sennheiser's. I know there is a big price difference between the two but if NC headphones are what you... Great for long plane rides

bykingzefer Nov 29, 2005

Pros Good sound quality, comfortable, good performance/price balance
Cons Battery pack a little goofy
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased these for my frequent trips to Europe. My only regret is I did not get them sooner. They make watching the movie or listening to music a joy. When not listening to anything they still knock the noise down but then you start getting used to it and it seems loud again until you take them... Read full review »
