Beautiful picture... no extras

Pros Excellent Picture Quality
Cons Lacks features, Slow To Load
Recommended it? No

My sweetheart bought this for me for my b-day, and I must say that the picture clarity is outstanding.  However, it doesn't have any of the bells and whistles one might expect from a bluray player... and it takes forever to load!  Invest the extra $$ in a newer version; we're going to try... Great quality, especially for the price

Pros Easy to Use, Simple Setup, Excellent Picture Quality
Cons none
Recommended it? Yes

I'm not an electronics guru but I am really happy with this player. We have a HiDef FlatScreen and with the BluRay movies the images look so crisp and the colors so bright. You can see every wrinkle on the actors' faces. Great electronic for the price. Read full review »

Pros Great Picture
Cons Takes a while to load

Samsung has done it again! I am very happy with this Blu Ray player that I bought about a year ago. The picture is amazing for both blu ray discs and dvds. My only complaint is that it takes a while to load. Very easy to use. Read full review »

Pros Cost, good picture, easy initial setup.
Cons Having to update firmware, quit playing regular DVDs,overheats halfway through the movie...

Very unhappy with this product! I upgraded the firmware once before when I kept getting the "no disc" error on any DVD other than a BluRay disc. The upgrade fixed it. It played all discs up until 5 days ago, then started with the same error on regular DVDs. I upgraded the latest firmware again,... Read full review »

I bought the BD-P1500 blu-ray player because it was discounted with my new Samsung TV.  From the beginning, it didn't play certain blu-ray discs, but the store told me that maybe the discs were defective.  It also did not take advantage of features that certain discs offered.

Having been invited over to a friend's for a movie night this weekend, I got the chance to have a firsthand look at one of the more actively evolving Blu-ray players on the market today.  While it was formerly considered expensive for its feature list, this Blu-ray has gotten most of the... UPDATE - January 2011 - D E A D

Pros Quick & fool-proof setup, versatile video formats, excellent video quality
Cons VERY SHORT LIFESPAN

I got my Samsung BDP1500 Blu Ray player as part of a package deal with my Samsung LN40A530 40" LCD tv (see review).
I have found this unit to be fool proof to setup, simply plug it in and connect the cable and you're done. Literally a 30 second procedure.

This easy to operate... Read full review »

Finally, an Affordable and GOOD Stand-Alone BD Player

bynad_masters Dec 11, 2008

Pros Affordable price, decent load time, Profile 2.0, Ethernet jack for updates
Cons Requires your own flash drive for BD-Live, no analog 5.1 output, no digital coaxial audio

If you haven't got on the Blu-Ray bandwagon, then good for you because you've waited for the right moment – NOW!

Previously, you would have to spend around $300 for one these new fangled players.  At that price, you were better off buying a Playstation 3, which is the fastest loading and... Read full review »

Samsung's BD-P1500 Blu-ray player allows me to upgrade and keep my DVDs, too!

byalexdg1 Dec 1, 2008
31 Helpfuls 32 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Plays Hi-Def Blu-rays, DVDs and CDs; easy to set up and use
Cons Blu-ray discs are pricier; players are more expensive than DVD players
Recommended it? Yes

I wasn't really planning on getting a Blu-ray player for a while yet; I still remember both the exhilarations and frustrations of the transition from VHS to DVD only a decade ago and I really didn't want to start replacing my entire 100-title DVD library with Blu-ray discs.

After all,... Read full review »

I have always been one of those guys that always think that as technology gets better and better I don’t need to rush out to the stores and continue to buy each and every new electronic, but let me tell you something. Pros Good picture, allows all audio signals to pass through, Profile 1.1 - promise of upgrades
Cons Nothing really, unless Samsung decides to not upgrade this player with profile 2.0

Are you telling me that it has only been slightly over a year since I have purchased my first blu-ray player? Worse yet, I have upgraded this piece of home theater equipment already. Am I really this crazy with money? What a waste! Gee, I can't deny that money has been wasted on a newer model from... Read full review »
