Better than plasma and projection
I went in looking at plasma, but they are still way too expensive. I have read so many negative reviews about the Gateway plasma that I passed on it. Plus the 50 inch Gateway is $6999. The Samsung DLP has a clean sharp picture. The store I purchased this from (American TV) has rows of TVs sitting... Read full review »
Stay Away
The first Samsung DLP I purchased arrived from Sears and FAILED TO FUNCTION straight out of the box! Sears was great about it and replaced it (after a couple of weeks) with this model. The picture is great but the unit goes black after an hour or so of watching, sometimes re-starting it will do the... Read full review »
After 8 months ownership
I cannot begin to tell you how good this set is. Resolution in HDTV mode is absolutely fantastic. The only problem is that down here in Fort Myers FL only NBC and ABC broadcast in HD. What is taking the rest of the broadcast world so long to convert to HD? Reception and color trueness are so... Read full review »
3 TIMES A LOSER !!!
I purchased my first one 18 months ago, after 45 days and less than a hundred hours of operation it died, the dealer couldn't get the parts and gave me a new one. I don't normally purchase extended warranties but after the first one died I purchased an extended warranty, I'm glad I did. After... Read full review »

100% Digital 100% of the Time!
For years on end, Sony has dominated the market in video products from camcorders, to digital cameras, to TV sets.
Well, Samsung is making a hostile effort to unseat Sony as the front runner in the TV market. Their engineering and manufacturing expertise has allowed them to be a prime...

It's ok
I just bought a 50" DLP and I am happy with it except for a few things. The first set i bought was a floor model. The second day it had problems turning on, so i returned it and got a new one. After getting a new set i noticed a the rich color and great picture with HDTV. But after watching it... Read full review »
Mine "died" after 18 months of service
I bought my Samsung HLM507W in November of '02 and until last week, considered it a good buy. It makes a beautiful picture and I like the fact the set weighs only 75 pounds. Last week, the set suddenly started making a high pitched noise, sort of like a metal saw cutting through metal. I thought it... Read full review »
Wow!
I have had this for about a month. I calibrated it using the Sound & vision dvd (color, brightness etc). I have played PS2 games through the component input, my dvd is through 1 of the component inputs with monster cable. Let me start by saying that while at the store to choose between the sony... This baby rocks
Okay I finally broke down and bought a new TV and I am not regretting it a bit. The TV I selected was the Samsung 50" DLP. After reading several reviews and seeing the TV in person I knew I had to have it. The picture is amazing, best in class to me anyway. It was a lot cheaper than a plasma TV and... Read full review »
Be careful
After months of research I decided that for me the 507w was the best choice.....What a disappointment....Gorgeous profile.....Contrary to some user reports the sound is adaquate and the remote while lightweight operated well.....Picture was nothing short of stunning with the Samsung DVI DVD... Samsung HLN507W
I had decided to wait until the price of Plazma Tvs came down to make the plunge into HDTV. That was until I hapened by a display at Circuit City which inluded the DLP set. Up til this time I hadn't been aware of this technology butg I immediately saw difference in this set from the surrounding... Read full review »
Samsung is on a roll
When I began my quest for a new TV, I decided I wanted something that had a slim design, could operate as a TV and PC monitor, and would let me play games without worrying about burn-in. Given some reservations about longevity of plasma screens, I decided I would go LCD. When I visited local... Read full review »
Some Quality Issues
Update
Several salespeople have told me that the light source of DLP televisions burns out in about a year, so it wouldn't be smart to buy this.
The problem with DLP
DLP (Digital light processing) is a technology developed by Texas Instruments that employs a...

Long-term Review
I have had this TV for 2.5 years and here are my long-term impressions:
Picture quality: excellent for the most part. One problem was with standard definition TV (SD) from the cable company. When I first got the TV I used Time Warner cable in New York City and the SD picture on this TV...

Plasma qualities at half the price.
After I made the decision to go to an HDTV set, I spent a lot of time researching the alternatives. The DLP technology involved in this set is what enticed me to buy it. I've been very pleased so far.
DLP is a projection system. Rather than use CRTs, it uses a 100 watt high output bulb to...
