I bought this product (under the White Westinghouse name -- same company) at least 7 years ago when I was a single (and poor) student. It served me (and my now husband and son) very, very well until last night when it bit the dust!

I bought my rice cooker because I wanted a small pan to cook the rice since I only cook for two now. With a built in timer, I do not have to hang around the kitchen to make sure the rice doesn't burn when the water runs out. This appliance shuts off automatically. A good starter
If you're a single or two-person household looking for your first rice cooker, this one will probably do you nicely. I've had mine for about a decade now and it's still running fine. You get what you pay for
This is the second Salton rice cooker I've had. The first one was slightly larger and barely lasted a year. The second one was given to me for a wedding gift and also barely lasted a year. The same problem happened to both, the fuse blew out. (My husband took it apart and tested the connections)... Read full review »
Convenient!
I'm Asian, I eat rice everyday, but my little rice cooker that my friend gave to me was broken, so I was looking for new one to buy. Darned good for the money
I recently purchased this rice cooker - we love rice & for years I'd gotten by on the 'boiling bags'... but the price on this was too good to pass up. Takes the Guesswork Out of Cooking Rice
Before I had the Salton Rice Cooker I could not get the rice to come out right. Usually it was sticky and the wrong consistency. Plus I had to stand by the stove the whole time to make sure that the water didn't boil over and cause a kitchen fire! That all changed when I received the rice cooker... Read full review »
A Waste of Money
There are three problems with this product:
1) It can barely manage to cook two portions of brown rice at a time
2) Steam/water shoots out the lid's sides and ends up all over the counter top
3) The bottom of the aluminum pot gets encrusted with sticky brown stuff...

Smoke in the Kitchen
I bought the Salton 3-cup because it was the cheapest one at Target. It is faster than my old Handy Steamer for cooking rice, but the Handy Steamer is 7 years old and still going strong.
