When you read the reviews that say this iron leaks water, believe them. Honestly! the thing leaks water every time I turn it on. great design, sub-par construction
I returned my second defective DX8900 iron to Rowenta. For the few hours that it worked, it was magnificent sewing iron- steamed like a champ, got nice and hot, comfortable handle, heavy for easy pressing, a large water reservoir which adds more weight, and it doesn't turn off until you turn it... Do not buy this iron.
I bought this iron from Sam's Club at around $65 thinking it would work well because of it's price point. It scorches all the time.
