Steams like a dream!

byribbit2jen Apr 8, 2008

Pros Vertical steaming, anti-drip, glides over fabric, uses tap water
Cons Pricey, heavy, some people who sew might not like auto shut-off feature
Recommended it? Yes

Not only do I need a good iron for ironing my clothes, but I also do a lot of sewing which requires me to iron extensively. I had an old cheapy iron for years and years because I just could never justify spending the $100 on the Rowenta that I really wanted. So my mom bought me one last Christmas... Read full review »

Pros Glides Effortlessly, 400 Steam Holes, Makes Lots Of Steam, Large H20 Reservoir,...
Cons EXPENSIVE!, Standby light stays on and flashes when iron is off but plugged in.
Recommended it? Yes

Update: Feb 5 2012 People can say what they want about this iron, but I've accidentally dropped mine about 4 feet onto the carpeted floor twice and it still works like a charm. The Rowenta brand is definitely engrained in my brain now.

Update: Dec 23 2011 Based on what I've seen in the... Read full review »

Pros Largest water reservoir; Huge amounts of steam; Glides over fabrics getting toughest...
Cons Leaks water and spits after 3 months. Not worth the price!
Recommended it? No

This Rowenta does iron like a dream and produces tons of steam--for only 3 months. I purchased this iron on January 27, 2009 and I had to replace it today, April 26, 2009!

I purchased this iron because I do love Rowenta irons. They iron out even the most stubborn wrinkles and creases. The... Read full review »

Sooooo much better than my old iron

Pros Polished stainless soleplate, plenty of steam, solid feel, even mist spray
Cons None so far
Recommended it? Yes

I put this iron on my wedding registry, figuring an upgrade from an old Sunbeam would be nice. Let me tell you, it actually makes me a more efficient ironer. The first thing I noticed about this professional series Rowenta was the polished stainless steel soleplate. It glides over fabrics so... Read full review »

Pros great looking
Cons too angry, read comment field
Recommended it? No

This is the second rowenta iron I have had. Like the first one, the automatic shut off stinks. It keeps turning itself off and won't come back on. I must unplug it and let it cool off. I cannot get thru one pair of pants before this happens. It is 2 weeks old and happened on day one. Never again. Read full review »

Pros Great job when it works.
Cons Quality of the appliance itself is poor.
Recommended it? No

I was so excited about how well this iron worked until, ALMOST two years later, it wouldn't work. I'm sorry, for the price, I should get much more use than that. I just bought a $30 Black and Decker with a $20 rebate to use until I can get this Rowenta jewel repaired. I have read other negative... Read full review »

Big bucks, short lifespan!

Pros When it worked, it did a good job. Good steam and plenty of it.
Cons Automatic shut off will no longer turn on!
Recommended it? No

I bought a Rowenta because I thought it was The Best. Well, it was fine for about two years of MINIMUM use. Then, one day...poof! Its automatic shutoff has shut off for good. Now what? Send it off for repairs? With the amount of time I spend ironing (nil), I should just go buy a $20 cheapie. I'm SO... Read full review »

Pros Reasonably priced, professional quality product.
Cons Temperature dial is sticky.

As a professional seamstress on a limited budget I was thrilled to find this wonderful iron. With the efficiency of a butler this iron accomplishes what ever you ask it to do. With a setting for cleaning that keeps you from getting something unexpected on that outfit you can rest easy. This iron... Read full review »

Pros Fantastic steamer when it works - even if only a few months.
Cons Breaks down quickly and repairs are worthless.
Recommended it? No

This is my second - and last - Rowenta Professional! Because I am a quilter I use my iron constantly and thoroughly enjoyed all of the features including the steam. Unfortunately, this lasted for about 6 months. Then I could get steam only for about a minute after turning it on; after that I had to... Read full review »

Don't Waste Your Money

Pros Steam is superior, unmatched to any other iron
Cons Unreliable, auto shut off stinks!
Recommended it? No

This is the first and last Rowenta iron I will buy. Mine lasted 2 years w/average use. Now, after 10 seconds of use, the auto shut-off engages. The only way to reset the auto shut off is to unplug it and plug it back in. Of course, you're are doing this every 10 sec. Stay away from these irons if... Read full review »
