Pros Feels like you're really performing. 4 players.
Cons Price of instruments. Sometimes I have to play songs that I don't like.
Recommended it? Yes

This game is similar to Guitar Hereo except it's much better because more than one person can perform at the same time.

If you have never seen this game before, it can be best described as karaoke for the microphone, guitar and drums. The game can be purchased in pieces or as a set. This... Read full review »

Rock Band: Do you sing or play...or both?

Pros Many ways to play, songs for those of us without top 40 souls.
Cons Some of the songs are practically unknown in most circles.
Recommended it? Yes

I'm a sucker for Karaoke Revolution games on the Playstation 2. Something about wailing along in my living room to songs like Hungry Like The Wolf really is fun for me even though Karaoke Revolution focuses on top 40 style material and I've NEVER been a top 40 kind of guy. With this in mind you can... Read full review »

Pros Great song selection, constant release of new songs to choose from via the PlayStation...
Cons A bit expensive initially, some of the DLC is lame
Recommended it? Yes

With Guitar Hero, Harmonix Music Systems made themselves household names with gamers, delivering the kind of music game that transcends its very niche genre and took it mainstream. After Guitar Hero II, Harmonix was acquired by MTV Games, who along with EA have given the Massachusetts-based... Read full review »

Pros
Music
Styles of Play
Cons
Cost of Instruments
Forced to Play Campaign
Pleasing Fans

The music gaming genre is relatively old at this point. The original karaoke games on the PlayStation 2 capture the hearts of a female gamer demographic. Harmonix add their talent to the original Guitar Hero, which appealed more to a male centric demographic. The fusion of... Read full review »

Pros jamming made simple, four player capacity, mildly interesting world tour
Cons high prices, no solo world tour, no freestyle

Playing Guitar Hero III and Rock Band on the PlayStation 3 is an experience. Almost anyone can be a rock legend, everything moves so seemlessly, songs are available for purchase online and you can even challenge someone across the world.

Unless you've been living under a rock for years,... Read full review »

Pros great song selection
Cons hard to find four people for the band option
Recommended it? Yes

I have been a Guitar Hero fan for quite some time, and I would have to say that Rock Band for the Playstation 3 is a nice addition to my collection. I never anticipated getting into Rockband just because I would never have a whole band to play with.

One of the things that I like best about... Read full review »

Pros Explore 4 different styles of music making that will rock out your living room.
Cons The PS3 version of this game has a few kinks that limit full play.
Recommended it? Yes

This game is an incredibly fun music-based video game that can be enjoyable by yourself or in large groups. There are four game playing modes to be explored, which allow the user to physically be a part of a rock band as a singer, guitar player, bass player, or drummer. The best part of the game is... Pros Great presentation, extremely fun and addicting. No freezing or framerate problems.
Cons Questionable setlists, defective guitars, a few minor glitches, nothing serious though.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased Rock Band for the PS3 the same day it came out, at a Toys R Us. As soon as I got home, I unpacked the meticulously packaged bundle. Once I popped the disc in to see what it had to offer, and played a few songs on the drums, I was hooked. I then called up my younger cousin (11 years old)... Read full review »

Pros Fun and exciting group play!
Cons Song selection, single player mode.

With Guitar Hero gaining the popularity it has, Rock Band has taken over since the winter selling out all over the country. Although Rock Band was once hard to get, it has recently become easily attainable. For the price, many do not want to spend so much on a video game. However, with a couple of... Read full review »

And I mean it!

We bought Rock Band for PS3 in January of 2008 and we've been playing it almost daily for 2 months! So what is the deal with this fantastic game?
