Ten years old and still impressed!
My wife and I have the six-quart electric model that was purchased in 1993 and we still love it. We routinely make ice cream for birthdays and other special events for both family and friends. The machine still performs without fail.
The one thing that you must remember is to pre-soak the...

motor overheats in less than 2 minutes
I found this item at a local Ace hardware. I was impressed with the stated motor power. This item was a replacement for an old Wal-Mart freezer that we had for more than fifteen years. The purchase price for the old freezer was maybe $40. With young kids around, we used the freezer. The darn thing... Read full review »
White Mountain Electric 6 qt Ice Cream Freezer
After drooling over one of these machines for many years, I finally got one of these bad boys. When I was a kid, my grandparents had a 1 gallon White Mountain that made terrific ice cream. I've been through countless ice cream makers, all electric, no crank machines; too lazy. Most of them were... Read full review »
The best you can get
The best thing about this maker is the ice cream it produces. The double-acting dasher and the powerful motor make all the difference. With other makers you often get a grainy, icy, or soupy product.
The dasher on this maker has wooden blades. That means it doesn't scrape "chunks" of icy...

Over a Year and Unimpressed
We have had similar experiences as stated in cochrans58's review. We purchased our unit on 9/27/2008 through Amazon and were extremely excited. One we were finally able to upgrade our capacity to 6 quarts from the old 4 quart unit and get something that appeared to be more of a long-term unit. We... Read full review »
Should Be Better
This is probably the best of this genre available but it could be improved on. I'm not sure how long Rival has owned this venerable line, but I don't believe it is what it used to be. The motor seems very strong. The tub just ok. The latches to hold the motor down seem mis-designed-they just don't... Read full review »
Just because something touts ITSELF as wonderful....
...does not mean that it is!! I had always heard this freezer was the Holy Grail of homemade ice cream so I saved and saved until I could afford one. The first 3 times I made ice cream with it were wonderful. I boxed it up for the summer in the original box and kept it in my climate controlled... Read full review »
Very Disappointed
I purchased my White Mountain Ice Cream Cooler in July 2000 thinking it was the best on the market. I have never been more disappointed. The box arrived in pieces and many parts were broken. It took Rival/Holmes 6 weeks to send the parts I needed. This after spending $200! Holmes/Rival customer... Read full review »
Nice, but Noisy
We purchased three model#F69206 White Mountain 6-quart ice cream freezers as Christmas presents in 1999 for our grown children. Although they retail for a bit over $200, the hardware store "cut us a deal" for $165 each.
White Mountain was our choice because of their reputation, not to...

White mountain need improvements
Our White Mountain Ice cream maker model 69206 lasted about 15 uses and then one of the gears stripped out. Now to fix it costs $149.00. Very dissatisfied. Read full review »

White Mountain F69206-X 6-Quart Electric Ice Cream Freezer
For a century and a half, since a woman in New York invented the hand-crank freezer, making ice cream has been an American family value. Mom blended the ice cream mixture; Dad filled the maker's wooden tub with ice and rock salt to achieve the below-freezing temperature needed to produce smooth confections; kids clamored to turn the crank; and everyone happily consumed big bowls of ice cream as a reward. This family-bonding activity remains as vibrant today as it was through a century-and-a-half of "progress." With various ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sherbet recipes included, this old-fashioned White Mountain ice cream maker maintains the tradition. Only the use of modern stainless steel for the freezer can and dasher and the electric motor distinguish this rugged maker from the one earlier generations enjoyed. And years from now it will still be used, knitting together a family's history. --Fred Brack From the Manufacturer The smiles will go for miles! Make delicious, homemade ice cream fast with the powerful electric motor on the White Mountain F69206-X 6-quart electric ice cream freezer. There is nothing quite like homemade ice cream. Create memories that will last a lifetime with your new, large 6-quart electric ice cream maker. Gather a crowd as you make extra for the whole gang! At a Glance New England white pine bucket Corrosion- resistant, cast-iron, triple-action dasher Three-gear electric motor system Steel inner bucket Makes 6 quarts of ice cream in 20 to 40 minutes 5-year limited warranty Recipes included Features Motor: Only the White Mountain brand uses a 12,000 RPM commercial-grade motor to provide ample churning torque needed for making homemade ice cream. No other ice cream maker has the power to restart after stopping to add fruit, berries, chocolate, or candy to a thickened ice cream mixture. Bucket: The wood bucket is crafted of select pine from New England and bound with strong galvanized hoops and electroplated fittings to ensure lasting stability. Canister: The tall canister design allows the ice cream to come in close contact with the ice and rock salt making it freeze faster. Our canister is manufactured of heavy-duty stainless steel that will provide years of ice cream making service. Dasher: The patented dasher system is constructed of heavy-duty cast iron and is electroplated for lasting durability. It will never warp out of shape like plastic dashers are prone to do. And the beech wood blades are self-adjusting to ensure uniform scraping of the ice cream mixture on the canisters interior sidewall. Bucket Canister Dasher The White Mountain Experience The White Mountain Experience started in the 1850s. Founded in 1853, we’ve always been about making good times happen right at home with ice cream you make yourself. The experience starts with the discussion-- often the kids get their pick--of what flavor ice cream your family wants to make. Vanilla with bittersweet chocolate chips or maybe peach made with orchard fresh peaches. Every delicious choice is limited only by your imagination. Just set up your White Mountain ice cream maker with ice and rock salt, and let the fun begin. Whether you’re cooling off a hot summer picnic or warming up a homebound winter weekend, the experience is one you can’t put a price on. Our secret is the triple-motion dasher. At the heart of the White Mountain ice cream maker is a uniquely designed, twin-blade "dasher." The outer canister turns clockwise and the blades turn both clockwise and counter clockwise. That triple-motion action continuously folds the ingredient mixture from the outer walls back onto itself creating the smoothest and creamiest down-home ice cream ever made.
