Pros Great convenience, easy cleanup.
Cons Somewhat small capacity, occasionally scorches food.
Recommended it? Yes

Well, it's now January 3rd, 2008. The holidays are over and it's back to work for my wife and I. To make the transition easier, she mixed up a ham and corn chowder and put it in the fridge. This morning, she poured it into our Rival Model 3735 Slow Cooker, set it to "Low," and let it cook all day... Read full review »

Pros no fuss cooking, easy to use & clean, shape and size take up little space
Cons do not care for plastic handles, only two cooking options
Recommended it? Yes

I have three different Crock Pots, one that I bought myself and others received from friends as gifts. All are made by Rival, but there is only one that I regularly use because it is perfectly sized for my small household. It is an oval shaped slow cooker than will hold 3.5 quarts.

Pros looks nice, good capacity, wise use of counter space
Cons not big enough for 4 servings
Recommended it? Yes

I've had the Rival Stainless Steel Crock Pot since December 2004 when I received it as a gift. I've used it probably thirty times to make beef stew, pot roast, skirt steak and a few other recipes.

Why would anyone want a crock pot?
I used to ask myself that question sometimes before... Read full review »

Handle with care

Pros Cooks well, large capacity
Cons Black plastic handles and knob crumbled into pieces
Recommended it? No

I just sent my Rival out to the curb because there were no longer any handles to hold it with. It is a fine cooker, but there was something wrong with the black plastic. Both handles simply fell to crumbles, and the handle on the dial also broke into pieces. Read full review »

Great "starter" crock pot

bysupermom7 Mar 3, 2005

Pros Attractive appearance, makes great stews, cooks food faster than other crockpots
Cons Might cook too fast for some folks, lid can sputter when cooking high-moisture dishes
Recommended it? Yes

This is a great crockpot for beginners. It has a larger capacity than you'd expect...the oval design allows for large cuts of meat and roasting chickens to fit easily.

As another reviewer mentions, foods do tend to cook faster in this crockpot than the recipes state they will. Also,... Read full review »

Pros Looks nice on the counter.
Cons Gets WAY too HOT!
Recommended it? No

Received as a gift in December 2004. Used only 5-6 times. Today the stoneware crock cracked because it apparently got too hot. It was only a hairline crack and I didn't even know it until liquid was leaking out onto my counter! Read full review »

Scorching hot on outside!

Pros Looks nice on the counter. HUGE capacity for making big stews, etc.
Cons Extremely hot to the touch on outside.
Recommended it? Yes

This crock works perfectly fine, but it gets dangerously hot on the outside. I use mine only on top of the stove and have to double-check that is wire isn't touching the outside.

Also, and this is not necessarily a bad thing, the "Low" setting is very hot and the "Hot" setting is... Read full review »

Pros I love it and it works great for cooking chili, spaghetti sauce and soups.
Cons I wish it had a 'warm' button.  That would help when dinner gets interrupted.
Recommended it? Yes

First, I am a big fan of crockpots, and Rival has always been the brand that I buy and ask for.  It has always been a very reliable crock pot brand.

I got the Rival 3735-WN 3.5 quart as a gift a little over a year ago and it has fast become one of my favorites.  It works great for cooking... Read full review »

Pros Works well. Reliable. Easy to use.
Cons Gets extremely hot to touch. Handles fell off both sides in pieces. Not made well.
Recommended it? No

Works good. Gets extremely hot to touch. Don't put near anything that may stick to it. Problem with the handles. Slowly pieces starting falling off. Now both handles are almost completely gone. Don't know if I should look to replace handles or retire it. Got as a Christmas gift in December 2004. Read full review »
