I have made 3 batches of ice cream and while a learning process, each was a basically success. If too much ice is used particularly at the beginning it will not run. Freeing it by turning by hand worked or just turning it on and off.

Just tried out our new Rival 6 qt ice cream maker. After all the work of getting the ingredients ready, adding the ice and rock salt around the can as it turned, the thing turned for all of about 2-3 minutes and then it made a sound like it was jammed and quit.
