Great game! I play all sorts of games with my kids. My oldest one came home with this one day and I didn't play it for several days. Didn't think I would like it. Well, I was wrong. Once I started, I couldn't stop! I now play all the guitar hero games more than the kids do! Read full review »

I Love Rock & Roll

Pros Large variety of songs, nice division of difficulty levels, fun to play
Cons Obvious covers, no practice mode
Recommended it? Yes

Here it is, folks, the game that started it all. Not really, I actually have no idea if it started anything other than the Guitar Hero series that boasts, what, 4 games with a fifth coming soon and a sixth rumored. The concept really sounded kind of silly to me at first – play along with songs on a... Read full review »

Pros Great Song Selections
Cons Song Selections are "Covered"
Recommended it? Yes

Here's my take on Guitar Hero: it's a great game. The song choice is varied enough to appeal to almost anyone. In fact, I would say, in terms of song selection, this game's better than the sequel. A word on that: the songs are covered, not the original performers. The learning curve is relatively... Read full review »

I have been hearing good stuff from Guitar Hero so I thought I might get it. I ended up getting Guitar Hero 3 first. Then for Christmas I got Guitar Hero 1. It's a great game; there are some pretty good songs on it. Though career is not that long it was very addicting and hard to stop playing. I... Read full review »

Guitar hero has to be the all time best music game ever invited. When I first heard about this game my friends were explaining it like it was the best thing ever since the making of easy mac! If you have played Dance, Dance Revolution the object of both games is the exact same thing.

Need More Songs if you Already Have GH2?

bynad_masters Dec 7, 2007
15 Helpfuls 16 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros More songs, more of the same if you already have GH2.
Cons No widescreen support, easier than GH2 (expected). Solo more fun than multiplayer
Recommended it? Yes

The funny thing is that my brother and I bought Guitar Hero 2 first. It came with a guitar already, and when we started to long for more songs to play with, we bought the very first Guitar Hero. To us, it was more of an expansion than another game. We know a lot of people who played the original... Read full review »

Great game for guitarists and non-guitarists alike, the complexity of the hard and expert modes gives many hours of entertainment. The controller is very easy to understand and use. As a child in the 70's I used to dress up in my three-piece suit and put vinyl record on my parents stereo and perform to them and any company that was over, such artist as Elvis, Niel Diamond, Mac Davis and KISS,,,,,with my Mr. Microphone. Does anyone remember that?... Read full review »

I heard about Guitar Hero and thought it had to be the lamest excuse for a video game ever conceived. Then I played a demo version of the game at a retail store one night and dreamed about it for months. We wound up buying a PS2 system just for this game -- it's a tragedy that they don't make it...
