This vintage is blended from 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 4% Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Analogous to our appellation Chardonnays, this blend gives us opportunity to work with a broad range of vineyards which offer typicite' of Napa Valley, as well as providing a new tier to allow declassification of lots from our vineyard- designates, such as Larkmead. Vine selection is old Wente, Robert Young and Long Vineyards – each a Wente selection themselves – ranging in age from 10 to 29 years old. Wente is marked by very small grape clusters, with small berries, and so-called hen-and-chick -- large and small berries within same cluster. Wente produces a classic, Burgundian-style wine without tropical fruit tones of some California Chardonnays. Our third vintage of this appellation Cabernet, into which we declassified our final harvest from Larkmead Vineyard at 37% of blend. Other vineyards included were Somerston, 36%; Snowden, 15%; Lamoreaux, 7%; and DeSantis, 5%. Aging on fine lees incorporates oak so that two years spent in half new barrels (a mixture of French and American) is barely noticeable. As with all of our wines, it was fermented with native yeasts and bacteria and bottled without filtration. This wine combines harmony produced by traditional Bordelaise winemaking techniques with voluptuousness of a great Napa Valley vintage. 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec, 3% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. This vintage marks a turning point for our Sonoma Coast bottling, as it is the first vintage to be dominated by the Martinelli Charles Ranch on Bohan Dillon Road. Planted in 1980, this is one of the most spectacular vineyards in Sonoma County. This vintage also marks what could be the final inclusion of the Platt Vineyard, as in 2009 the vines have matured enough to merit their own vineyard- designated bottling. 2008 Ramey Chardonnay Hudson Vyd Carneros

This wine is from United States, California region, Carneros sub-region. ) Bright, green-tinged gold. Intensely perfumed bouquet of orange peel, lemon curd and a hint of toasty lees, along with a strong mineral underpinning. Opulent, palate-staining citrus and orchard fruit flavors display noteworthy power but dont come off heavy; in fact, this is pretty lithe. Finishes youthfully vibrant and long, with strong notes of pear skin, bitter orange and spices. This wine and the other vineyard- designated chardonnays spent 19 months on their lees.
