Pros Simple and easy to use, Long battery life, Locked, regular and delayed modes
Cons IR requires line-of-sight to fire camera
Recommended it? Yes

If you have a digital Rebel camera (or any of the several Canon models that this remote supports), this handy little remote control can let you take group photos or long exposure shots without having to touch the camera. While it's not perfect, I've found that it's been a handy addition to my... Read full review »

Canon RC-1: More than Remotely Useful.

bytheuerkorn Jul 3, 2009

Pros Clip design, small size, easy to use, direct and 2s delayed shutter control
Cons Limited range, line-of-sight only, no "half-press" mode
Recommended it? Yes

I have been using Canon's xxD series for a while (20D, 40D) and since neither offers a built-in wireless remote control option, the corded switch was really the best and only option. Consumer cameras like the Digital Rebel in several incarnations, on the other hand, had an IR port to allow such... Read full review »

Pros Storage convenience, wireless, sturdy, 2 sec w/ mirror lock, works with bulb mode
Cons IR limitations; No L mode (mirror lock) with Rebel XT
Recommended it? Yes

Being in IT, I have purchased a good number of digital cameras over the years, and one of the things that caught my eye about 8 years ago was the emergence of wireless remotes. Back then, it was somewhat of a side note, and it doesn't seem that things have changed much.

When I bought my... Read full review »

Great tool for Digital Rebel

Pros Locks onto the camera neckstrap; does its job very well
Cons Price
Recommended it? Yes

Though I'm hardly a great photographer, one thing I've always loved ever since beginning to use an SLR is taking long-exposure shots. I love setting up the tripod and taking pictures of lightning streaking through the sky during thunderstorms, or getting shots of star trails on a clear night sky... Read full review »

Pros Works well, small, easy to operate.
Cons Easy to lose, a little flimsy.
Recommended it? Yes

The RC-1 remote control from Canon can be used to operate the shutter release on many popular cameras including Elan II/e and EOS IX. This wireless remote can be used up to 16 feet (5 metres) from the camera infront, or from a few feet behind. This is a useful accessory for group photos where you... Read full review »

A Quality Camera under $200.

Pros Easy enough and good enough for most users. Lots of quality for the money.
Cons About perfect for what it is and what it costs.
Recommended it? Yes

$189 buys a very capable digital camera at Sam's Club. To that purchase you'll need to add a 1GB (or better) Memory Stick Duo Pro ($33), screen protector ($10), and belt-loop case ($15)for basic operations. Total $247.
What makes this camera so great? This is really a "bang-for-the-buck"... Read full review »

SLR goes wireless!

Pros X-Ray like infra-red reception, great range, cheaper than wired remote, comes with...
Cons Cheap plastic casing, continuous shooting not available via remote.
Recommended it? Yes

Bought the RC-1 for long exposures with my EOS Elan 7E, in which pressing the shutter can potentially move camera and fuzz the exposure (no matter how rock steady my tripod may be). I had a hard time deciding between this and the wired version of the same remote. I finally figured wireless would be... Read full review »

Being a photographer, I am always looking for products that will make my life easier. I had been wanting a remote control for my Canon Elan film camera for awhile but I had not decided which one to purchase.

Previously I had been using the automatic timer to allow the camera to take the... Read full review »

bygot2cook Aug 3, 2006

Pros digital display, removable base, even cooking, large
Cons mine kept shutting off in the middle of cooking for no apparent reason
Recommended it? No

I loved this electric skillet at first. It has a digital display. It is LARGE. It has a clear top so you can see what you are cooking without opening the top. It seems to heat evenly. You can remove the skillet from the base for easy cleaning and serving. Here is where the problem came in. If the... Read full review »
