Pros Many characters to choose, stages, weapons.
Cons Not great fun for single player.
Recommended it? Yes

I've been playing Quake for quite some time, especially the 1st.
I really didn't expect much from the 3rd, after playing for very little time the 2nd - I didn't like the fact that it couldn't be played by lan, only online - so I was afraid that the 3rd would be just as bad... Not because of... Read full review »

Pros Excellent Graphics, Nearly flawless multiplayer games, Great Gameplay
Cons Limited modes, Not sophisticated enough, Hardly any human players, Sad Maps
Recommended it? Yes

Single Player - Relatively crappy

Quake III, developed by the Texas-based ID Software, is quite different from it's prequels as far as the focus goes.. Quake II focussed equally on the single player game a well as the multiplayer. Quake III however focuses more on it's multiplayer... Read full review »

Pros very playable game
Cons Wasted evenings, knackered mice

What is there to say other than Q3 Arena is simply THE best online multiplayer first-person shooter there is. Many may contest this viewpoint, saying that Unreal Tournament beats it hands down due to the variety of game styles available. While this may have been true at the time that Q3A was... Pros Killer Graphics, Maps, Characters, and Mods just waiting to be downloaded!

Remember way back, when the realease of Doom was stirring up the PC world, and then came Quake. QuakeI was a straight forward First person shooter, get to the end of the level and beat the boss. The second Quake added online support, but with minimal options, though it did have co-op, which is... Read full review »

Pros graphics
Cons weapons, gameplay, absolutely nothing has changed except better graphics

you think Q3's cool? try Unreal tournament. it's like comparing the Matrix to a western. Unreal beats Q3 in every aspect except maybe graphics, and even then, ut is only footsteps behind.

graphics::
Q3 has some nice graphics, but you'll hardly notice as you rush through the map. it... Read full review »

Quake III: Arena is a great game for many reasons. It has many different modes of gameplay, such as Death Match (DM), Capture the Flag (CTF), Team Death Match (TDM) and Tournament.

It is fast paced action, with no time to be messing around. There are 9 weapons in the default game:... Read full review »

Pros Excellent, fluid controls, great gameplay.
Cons All levels similar, hardly any weapons.
Recommended it? Yes

Quake III Arena is simply one of the best games I have ever played. It's single player deathmatch offers challenging opponents; if you play on the hardest difficulty it's almost impossible. The levels are well designed, even though they look pretty similar and gothic, except the space levels.

So it's the PS2's turn to get the world's best-known first-person shooter. But is this a Quake too far?

Is there anyone left that hasn't played Quake III?
After the PC original and the superlative Dreamcast port, it would seem that any freshness the game once had has long since been... Read full review »

Pros Nice graphics
Cons BORING, where's the beef?

I'm a huge first person shooter fan and have played just about every one of them released since DOOM. I had great expectations for Quake III, but after spending a few hours with the game, it went up on eBay.

What the heck were the designer's thinking? Quake III has absolutely none of what... Read full review »
