Quake 3 Asleepa

byAlifornia Jun 8, 2000

Pros Beautiful, Fast paced, Fun
Cons Could have been better, Not Unreal Tournament
Recommended it? Yes

Just because I play Unreal Tournament does not mean I'm biased. Quake 3 Arena just doesn't make the cut. I spent countless hours playing Quake 2 Capture the Flag online and when I heard Quake 3 Arena was going to mainly cater to multiplayer I almost had a heart attack. I played the huge demo... John Romero isn't a rockstar; Daikatana isn't either.

Pros The graphics, and "advanced" roleplaying-type system for advancement might be...
Cons Gameplay, replay value, graphics.
Recommended it? No

Yes, I know, this isn't the place to talk (talk? rant.) about Romero's latest failure as a software developer. I, however, am upset with this purchase, and have no where to quickly rant. A few things bother me with this game:

(1) It always sucked.

(2) "Daikatana has hit the... Read full review »

Pros great graphics, smooth gameplay
Cons could use a little more variety in the board selection
Recommended it? Yes

Besides the fact that you need to have an OpenGL supported video card, this game ROCKS! Quake III Arena takes first person shooters to the next level. It has great character depth and nice layout. Plus the features this game has blows all other quake games away, obviously because its the newest... Read full review »

Pros Good intentions?
Cons Inoperable
Recommended it? No

I have read reviews of this game that were highly complimentary (and about as many that were highly critical). This review will not be complimentary. Although I have spent a lot of hours playing an earlier Activision game (Quake II), I have yet to play Quake III. Once installed, it would not run... Read full review »

Pros Sweet Graphics and GAmeplay
Cons High End System Needed, Not as much gameplay variety as Unreal Tournament.
Recommended it? Yes

Quake 3 Arensa is the end all be all of first person death matching. If you purchase the game with this in mind you will not be disappointed. On a high end system the graphics are absolutely stunning. John Carmack definitely outdid himself when he programmed the Arena Engine. As for the game play,... Read full review »

Well folks Quake 3 Arena has been out and well I have to admit that the graphics are stunning , the game well leaves a little bit to be desired. First off the game is yet another in the long line of first person shooters. Now if these are the only games you like than, by all means make sure you... Read full review »

Quake III: Online Gaming at It's Best

Pros Best multiplayer game on the market
Cons Needs a strong system to run well

The boys at id have done it once again. From their humble beginnings writing such classic games as "Wolfenstein 3D" to the mega-popular "Doom" series, the id software team has proven that they still reign king after all these years. Quake 3 takes a departure from Quake and Quake 2 in the fact that... Read full review »

Pros Great Graphics, Gets you hooked...
Cons Un-like other Quake games (which could be a pro, depending)...
Recommended it? Yes

When I first purchased Quake3, I was shocked to find that it had a totally different format than those of Quake1 and 2. In this one, though still in the first person, you don't pass through levels defeating enemies and ultimately beating the supreme boss in the last last level. This gave me many... Read full review »
