Good basic DVD player with remote and Car DC adapter; get the extended warranty! You'll need it.
We bought this for our 2 kids in the back of our Civic 4-door hybrid. We have a Honda Odyssey, but wanted to start using the Civic hybrid for most trips to save on gas.
It worked great for about 5 months, but the LCD just started showing vertical colored lines one day, so we called for Warranty repair.
It's a basic DVD player, with 1 headphone jack, included car adapter, and included Composite video-out cables (Yellow, Red, White).
Remote: it's ok, thin/small with watch-batteries, but we never really used it.
Screen: It's 7", but the 480x234 screen is not for the discerning eye. I can EASILY tell the quality is not that great compared to our home TV. But for kids, and the casual car-watching on a road-trip, it's fine.
Sound: It has 1 headphone jack, which doesn't really work for 2 kids... but we just plug it into the audio-jack (headphones outlet) in our car, and it plays through the stereo great. The built-in speakers are ok, work fine in a driving car, but may be a little difficult to hear at high road-noise/speeds.
Usability: It's so easy a 4-year old can use it. And actually, our 2-year old was starting to be able to control the fast-foward/rewind (before the screen broke).
Warranty: I HIGHLY recommend getting the extended warranty if offered, since we're on our 3rd Phillips (all replaced under manufacturer warranty). We didn't buy the extended warrant (since Walmart doesn't have one), but I might be inclined to do so for something that will take such abuse in a portable environment and around kids.
Formats: plays standard DVD discs, jpg photo, and videoCD discs, but no support for Divx (like higher end Phillips players, which we now have).
Overall: Works well for the intent. It *was* durable for 5 months, then it died. The warranty coverage was adequate, and Technical Support was VERY easy to deal with to get a replacement.
