Pros Full manual control, 12X zoom, large LCD, hot shoe, good price
Cons LCD/EVF does not "gain up" in low light, minor chromatic abberation
Recommended it? Yes

I was a "point and shoot" digital camera user for several years and was looking to move up to something more interactive. I couldn't afford a dSLR (lenses alone were out of my price range) and I came across the FZ20.

The image quality is excellent. Indoors it does take a bit of adjusting... Read full review »

Pros Great, flexible, friendly camera with fantastic Leica lens.
Cons Sub-standard 90 day labor warranty with dismal customer service demonstrated thus far.
Recommended it? No

This camera has everything I was looking for and for three months worked flawlessly, producing surprisingly sharp and accurate digital photos. There are some limitations with respect to using the camera in low light, as others have mentioned, but overall, I loved this camera. Then one day the zoom... Read full review »

This camera is great. Its the closet it can be to being a SLR without actually being a SLR! It comes with a leica lens (the best lense manaffacture around), and its best feature of all, 12x Optical zoom, which means not having to buy Zoom Lenses for the camera. I have taking this camera hill... Read full review »

I spent weeks researching cameras and kept coming back to Panasonic's Lumix DMC FZ20. So I went for it and bought the professional package from zoomania.com. The camera is lightweight, uses standard SD cards and packs a lot of features. Read full review »

Pros Amazing low-light capability
Cons Large for a digital
Recommended it? Yes

I've owned 2 other digital cameras - a fixed lens 1mp Kodak - a fun toy, and a 2mp Fuji FinePix 2800 with a 6X zoom lens that was so bad in low light (no focus-assist) that I hated using it.

So I upgraded to the Panasonic FZ20. I opened the box, charged the battery, and began taking the... Read full review »

If the other reviews haven't made you conclude that the Lumix FZ20 is a great digital, I'll add my 2 cents.

As a pro shooter & photojournalist traveling with 35mm Nikons, 2 1/4 Hasselblads and 4x5 Calumets, I can attest to the tremendous value you'll find in this $500 package. It won't... Read full review »

The DMC-FZ20 delivers a feature packed and solidly built camera that produces beautiful pictures. This camera can stand up to other great cameras costing twice as much or more. While Panasonic may not be the first name one may think of in digital cameras, I am convinced that is already changing as... Read full review »

I am brand new to the Photography world; actually, "amateur" isn't even an accurate appraisal of my experience/skills. However, this Camera did not overwhelm me. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20S 5MP Digital Camera with 12x Image Stabilized Optical Zoom (Silver)

Interesting. It looks like an SLR but it really isn't. Instead of changing lenses, it's got a 12-times zoom lens that goes from wide-angle to large telephoto focal lengths, equivalent to 36mm to 432mm in a 35mm film camera. Not an ordinary lens either, Leica Vario Elmarit. It's a Lumix Digital-camera and it stores still and movie images on SD or MMC memory cards. Here's a rare feature: Jitter from shaky hands is one of the main reasons why cameras produce blurry images. We don't expect everyone to have hands of stone when taking pictures--that's why Lumix cameras help solve the problem of unsteady hands with advanced MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer technology. The DMC-FZ20 has a built-in gyrosensor that detects any hand movement and relays a signal to a tiny microcomputer inside the camera, which instantly calculates the compensation needed. A linear motor then shifts the Optical Image Stabilizer lens as necessary to guide incoming light from the image straight to the CCD. You won't even notice it working--all you'll see are the outstanding results! It's time to get a Lumix and smile. Up to 2560 x 1920 still image resolution / Up to 320x240 QVGA digital video resolution at 10 or 30 fps with audio / A still image may have up to 5 seconds audio 2 LCD Screen SD Memory Card Slot USB and AV Cables and ports for image transfer to PC - Macintosh - TV Includes 16MB SD memory card but we suggest buying an optional 256MB memory card (or larger) for practical use with this high-res camera Includes Rechargeable Li-Ion battery and Charger Includes Lens Cap, Hood Adapter, Wrist Strap Includes Image Transfer and Editing software suite Built-in multimode electronic-flash / Hot Soe for adding an optional external electronic- flash PictBridge Unit Dimensions HWD - 3.43'' x 5.02'' x 4.18'' / Weighs 1.14 lbs
