Pros Style, features
Cons Battery doesn't last
Recommended it? No

We have had this phone for three months, maybe four. If we had only kept our Target receipt, this phone would have been taken back.

The Pros:

The phone has some nice features. The phone even looks nice. The Caller ID is easy to read. The buttons are backlit. The phone is white... Read full review »

Pros Great looks, Great sound, lots of features.
Cons Base unit display is not back lit...
Recommended it? Yes

Was going to go with the 2570 model, but after reviewing it here, decided to go with the 2583. Which is about the same only has key pads and displays on both hand set and base unit. This model can also be hung on the wall, if you run out of desk space, like I'm about to do.
This thing is... Read full review »

Gigarange Extreme versus Gigarange Elite

bytype-a Apr 16, 2002
10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? 1 Comment
Pros range, clarity, durability
Cons limited answering machine functions, not quite wall mountable
Recommended it? Yes

Background: I first tried to go with an inexpensive KXTC-1703b "900MHz digital phone"--note that it didn't say "digital spread spectrum." I found I couldn't get out of my apartment (down the hall: no. Through the metal storm door: heck no. Down the metal stairs: laughable). So I went nuts and... Read full review »

Cons Tinny sound when using mic, battery dies fast, limited recording time on answering...

I purchased the Panasonic KX-TG2583S (Silver color) after trying and returning several other cordless phones. While this was the best of the group I tried, I am still not entirely satisfied with it.

I now have a home based office and when not on the road, spend a good part of my day... Read full review »

ANNOYING AND EXPENSIVE

bybrunildu Feb 2, 2002
9 Helpfuls 10 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? 4 Comments
Pros Better reception than 900 mhz
Cons almost everything else it does is annoying
Recommended it? No

Why it is a bad product?

1-If you listen to the message second time, you can only do it through the handset

2-the function display is quite annoying, it does not work when phone is on, you either use the base or the head set, a lot commands that should work just on the base it... Read full review »

Pros Sharp looking, many features.
Cons Didn't work!
Recommended it? No

Unfortunately my fiance and I purchased this phone. We were looking for a quality portable phone, and the sales associate recommended this one. When we brought it home we were very excited to plug it in and start charging it. As soon as we plugged it in, it got very hot and even started smoking. I... Read full review »

Panasonic KX-TG2583B is like two phones in one!

byshellbell1 Jan 31, 2002

Pros Clarity, Features, Durability, Style!
Cons A bit intimidating with all the features.
Recommended it? Yes

Well what can I say, I have been on the search for a good quality phone for about 5 years now and this one has finally got my approval! I'm still old-fashion in the fact that I like my answering machine to be included on the phone - none of that provided by your phone company - voicemail box stuff... Read full review »

Cons The Button Labels wore off after about one month.

I have owned this amazing phone for about two years now and it was well worth the price I payed for it! When it first came out, it cost me about $280 Canadian, however I have gotten so much use out of it that it was worth every cent.
I believe that it has the best reception that I have ever... Read full review »

Pros Clarity, awesome feature set, construction
Cons Programming is a little more technical than other phones
Recommended it? Yes

Let's face it, a phone system at this price is an investment. Like other cordless phone reviewers, I, too, had to go through a trial and error process to find a phone I could live with. Not an easy task when you consider you have to take the time to program each phone you try, and then have to get... Read full review »

Pros Dual ID w/Answer mach, Range, Clarity
Cons None

OK, so what do you want in a phone? To me the most important thing by far is clarity. I absolutely detest static when I'm talking. I went out and bought several different phones. I tried everything at Best Buy, a couple at Target, one at HH Gregg. I was getting thoroughly frustrated with the... Read full review »

Panasonic KX-TG2583B 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Caller ID and Answering Device (Black)

A digital cordless phone with exceptional signal quality and a host of added features, Panasonic's KXTG2583 also provides a sleek design and a fully integrated answering center. Operating on the 2.4 GHz band, as opposed to the more common 900 MHz band, this phone is able to offer significantly increased clarity and handset range. Sensitivity to handset signal is increased by providing two omni directional antennas, while error-correction software helps to increase the range of the handset without significant signal loss. The phone also utilizes digital spread-spectrum technology, which enhances security by shifting frequencies multiple times every second. The KCTG2583 includes many convenient featur. You can adjust ringer and handset volumes to your liking and also have the option of choosing tone or pulse dialing. You can expect about 4.5 hours of talk time and about 11 days of standby before recharging the handset battery. The speakerphone lets you roam at will and is fully digital, resulting in more intelligible conversations with less echo and dropout. LED screens on both the handset and base tell you the name and number of incoming calls, even if you are on the other line, while a two-way paging system can either locate that ever-elusive handset or let you talk to someone in another room. The base is easily wall mountable, and the handset is headset compatible. The answering center is more like a personal secretary than a simple machine. The built in memory can hold 15 minutes of date/time stamped messages, while the speed dial memory stores up to 50 of your most frequently dialed numbers. If you're a subscriber to voice messaging services, you can program the phone to notify you when you have new messages in your box. Reasonably priced for the number of features, the KXTG2583 also comes backed with a one-year parts and labor warranty.
