Palm Zire 21 - Great Basic PDA For Beginners

byKittyokc Nov 10, 2003

Pros Easy to use and many applications.
Cons Screen is not backlit.
Recommended it? Yes

For someone needing a basic PDA, one without all the bells and whistles that the more expensive ones come with, the Palm Zire 21 will surely fit the bill. Instead of writing things down on pieces of paper, that usually get misplaced, you can input all the things you need to do, notes and grocery... Read full review »

Zire 21 : Liberating the Cheap Zone for New PDA Users

byyusakugo Oct 25, 2003

Pros Price, power, 8MB or RAM, Palm OS 5.2.1
Cons No backlight, limited expansion options, PIM software not updated like Tungsten E/T3
Recommended it? Yes

Personally, I would have never bought this unit since it would not fit my particular uses... but through the palmpaysback referral system, I picked one of these units up to play with.

Anyone who has read my prior reviews knows that I blasted the original Palm Zire model... however,... Read full review »

Palm Zire 21 - The Cheap PDA That Could...

bysoupcraze Feb 2, 2004

Pros Price, Performance, Looks, Palm OS 5.2.1, Interface
Cons Monochrome, No Memory Slots
Recommended it? Yes

The Palm Zire 21 is very similar to it's sibling, the Palm Zire. It looks identical to the cheaper Palm Zire, but it has much more power under the hood. This is definitely Palm's attempt at gaining control of the inexpensive sub-$100 monochrome market since most manufacturers have moved to color... Read full review »

The Zire 21 is a Great Basic PDA

Pros Low Cost, Durable, Easy to Use
Cons Lack of Advanced Features like web, email, color screen
Recommended it? Yes

I've owned the Palm Zire 21 PDA for about 4 months now and for the most part I am very pleased with it. Let me start off by talking about how to pick a PDA. The most important thing I found in picking a PDA is to ask yourself the question: "What am I going to use this for?", and be realistic! For... Read full review »

Much better, but still not that great

bysweetums202 Nov 29, 2003

Pros 8 mb of RAM, 126 MHz processor, Palm OS 5.2.1, design, better software bundle
Cons Included rubber case, screen, no expansion, no backlight
Recommended it? Yes

The original Palm Zire was a great success for Palm. Although it was only for beginners, the great design and low price convinced more than six or seven million to buy it. The new model in the Zire series, the Zire 21, is definately much better than the original Zire, and still only costs $100. It... Read full review »

A decent no-frills PDA.

Pros Small size, sleek looks, decent processing speed.
Cons No backlight, 160x160 screen, no SD slot, no user-replaceable battery.
Recommended it? Yes

Let me preface this review by stating that I've owned a plethora of PDA's since 1998. About half of them were PalmOS powered.

My most recent PalmOS-Powered PDA, a Palm Tungsten T, died the week of labor day. After looking at what I really used the unit for and what was available at a... Read full review »

I wish Handspring Visors were still around

Pros Inexpensive, small form factor, lightweight, rugged
Cons Graffiti 2, poor world time function, inadequate calendar, inadequate four-function...
Recommended it? Yes

I already own two Palm Zire 21 PDAs, but then I have owned five Handspring Visors. I keep documentation and work logs on them and I use them to write documentation and even to write newspaper articles in my other life as a sometimes sportswriter. I use my one functional Visor to show PowerPoint... Read full review »

Pros Does what a PDA is supposed to do and does it well!
Cons I didn't buy it sooner.

I have owned a Palm III for many years. I bought that used for $25. It served me very well.

When I wore that out, I decided to upgrade, so I purchased a Tungsten E2. Within 2 months I returned it for a replacement as the first one simple just quite and would not turn on.

get organized for a decent price

Pros cheap, reliable, easy to use
Cons no backlight, limited connectivity
Recommended it? Yes

If you are used to spend less than $10 per year on an organizer/notebook made of paper and you did OK so far, spending hundreds of dollars on something that essentially fulfills the same role is a risk. Even the $60 I paid for a factory refurbished Zire21 felt like an enormous amount.

My First PDA

Pros functionality, applications, portability, organization
Cons no backlight, Graffiti system needs some tweaking

I purchased a Palm Pilot palmOne Zire 21 from an online auction because I found myself utterly victimized whenever I would misplace my paper planner.

"The easy and affordable way to balance the demands of your busy life."

PalmOne Zire Handheld

The Palm Zire handheld is designed from the ground up for everyday personal use. On the move, at school or at work, it makes the dream of paperless life a reality. Feel like you don't have enough time to catch up with everything? The chances are you're not in control of your schedule. Unlike a paper organizer, the Zire handheld gives you the whole picture: appointments and people, tasks and notes, and ties them all together.Nothing could be more natural than entering information into the Zire handheld. Unlike a PC, which forces you to use a keyboard, or a mobile phone, which demands dexterous thumbs, the Zire handheld is much more civilized. If you know how to write in capital letters, you know how to use the Zire handheld. In just a few minutes, you will have mastered Graffiti, Palm's unique - and very intuitive - handwriting language. How easy is it? Well, like A-B-C. What's more, what would happen if you lost your paper agenda? With a Zire handheld, you can keep a copy of all your information on your PC. What's in the box: Zire Handheld w/ Rechargeable Battery, Charging Cable, USB HotSync Cable, Getting Started Manual, CD-ROM with Palm Desktop Software, Stylus, Protective Flip Cover
