PDP Systems Patriot Xporter XT Boost PSF8GUSB 150x (8 GB) Flash Drive (PEF8GUSB)

I recently purchased the 8GB Patriot Xporter XT Boost USB Flash Drive PEF8GUSB and boy, it is fast!  With it, I can write files to it at the rate of about 20 MB/sec and read files from it at about 30 MB/sec.  That's fast!  I don't think anyone is likely to be disappointed by that performance.

While the performance is very good, the Patriot Xporter XT Boost isn't the most convenient USB flash drive to carry.  It's just about the size of a five stick pack of Wrigley's chewing gum - compact, but not extremely small by today's standards for USB devices.  The device is fully encased in black rubber with raised red rubberized print, and claims to be water and shock resistant.  The rubber cap that covers the USB connector fits snuggly, and it appears to be water resistant enough withstand a quick dunk.  I carry the Patriot Xporter in my pants pocket, and the rubberized case feels a little sticky.  I think I'd prefer a smooth hard plastic case.  The Patriot Xporter XT also has a nice blue LED that lights when the drive is accessed.

With the 8GB Patriot Xporter XT Boost, I've been able to a make a bootable Ubuntu Linux drive, and the device's speed makes it boot noticibly faster than slower devices.

The Patriot Xporter XT Boost package also includes a lanyard, and a foot long USB extension cable.  They're nice little additions that may be useful to some users.
