Orphen: I Would Have Abandoned This Kid, Too.
Expecting to get a PS2 on launch day, I wanted to make sure I had something to play on my new system. I knew I wanted Dynasty Warriors 2, but I wanted something with a bit deeper gameplay, so I picked up one of the only RPGs out for the PS2, and that was Orphen.
I was not expecting...

A Fun Game to play
This 3-D action game is similar to the way that the Legend of Zelda is set up. This is an excellent game for all ages. It's a role playing type game that challenges the players problem solving abilities. If you like the style of Zelda games, then this is a good one to get.
The main...

Thank God I Only Rented It.
"Orphen: Scion of Sorcery" is by far one of the worst games I've played lately. In the past year, only two games have been worse. "The Incredible Hulk" for the Playstation, and "Tokyo Extreme Racer" for the Dreamcast.
"Orphen: Scion of Sorcery" could easily have been a good game. They...

Not as bad as everyone has said
The game everybody hates turned out to be pretty good I think. It introduces some new things into the RPG world, and I found it very original, and a fairly decent game. For those of you, who hated this game, please hear me out; I have some good reasons for liking it just as you did for hating... Read full review »
Demand a refund!
My husband picked up Orphen the day we got our PS2. He figured he hadn't seen any good roleplaying games yet and this one was sitting on the shelf. Hey, why not. I'll give a few reasons why not!
This game was so awful we returned it the very next day and the manager was kind enough to give...

An RPG players nightmare
When I purchased my PS2, I had to make a crucial decision to figure out which RPG was the one that I would most want first. I walked up to the display window, and liking anime and the like, purchased Orphen. I was swayed by the anime graphics on the box.
Playing this game though became a...

What is this Drivel?
Chalk up yet another PS2 launch game bomb. Orphen: Scion of Sorcery takes yet another stab at giving us only eye candy without any hint of real gameplay to work with. I really don't mind giving anything away (never made it past the halfway point of this mindlessly dull trash) since I HOPE you never... Read full review »
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME
Being someone who is no huge fan of anime, this may be a very biased review, but I guess that's what opinions are for. I think anime is better left on TV or movies and should stay out of the video game industry in the US, especially if this game is a sign of things to come.
I'm assuming...

Before you adopt this orphen, take a look at this
One of the benefits of Sony's new PlayStation 2 is its ability to accept both CD-Rom and DVD-Rom based games. With videogame developers wanting to include more photo-realistic images, video, and movie clips, the approximately 600 megabyte capacity of a standard CD (once considered huge) just... Review of Orphen
I got this game when I first got my PSX2. It was the day PSX2's had just been released and I immeadiately chose this game because I recongnized it as a Japanese animation title and Recongnized a few of the companies (namely Kadakowa) also working on some of my favorite games/anime such as Lunar,... Orphen
Though the game is in many ways flawed Orphen: Scion of Sorcery's interesting core game system often manages to transcend the game's poor production and haphazard design. It's not often that a console RPG attempts to challenge the established conventions of the genre. Indeed the lure of wrapping a trite narrative around a turn-based combat system and a set of "brilliant" CG movies often seems too much for most developers to resist as the slew of me-too console RPGs makes evident. Granted there is something to be said for a good story and well-thought-out characters but when the genre is examined from a technical standpoint only a few innovations have surfaced that have gained much in the way of mainstream acceptance.
