It works! I was surprised.
This if for the Oreck XL Professional Air Purifier (Model Air8B-II).
I'm one of those prone to positive ions - I know because I work in a lab with a lot of electrical equipment and my sinuses start acting up and I get sleepy (tea and coffee helps a lot).

Awesome product!!!!
I purchased two of these purifiers two weeks ago. When I first started using these machines, within 45 minutes I could tell that the air in my house was much fresher. ORECK Air 7 - OZONE emitting, noisey, not worth $
-noise at lowest speed
-emits OZONE smell even with ionizer off - caused headaches
-took away some odor but replaced with ozone smell

Not worth the money
I used it for 60 days and returned it. I did not feel that it was worth $350. It is one EXPENSIVE fan. It looks cheap. I was disappointed with the construction and the operation. I've used two of the units for the past two months. Other purifiers I've tried have been FAR to noisy to use in my home theater and bedrooms, so I thought I'd try the Super 8 after hearing the info-mercial adds claiming the virtues of the "silent technology".

XL Professional Air Purifier: difficult to clean and maintain
Do not buy this product unless you want to throw away $350. After 3 months of continuous use, it was a struggle to remove and clean the filters and wash the blades. I now own three Oreck air purifiers. These things are great. You don't realize the amounts of dust, dirt and stray hair that's in your house—that's all junk that you're breathing in.
