For years I had the Optoma H30 projector, and I was nothing but pleased with it. There is nothing like watching movies on a 105" screen in your living room. The only downside to owning a projector is that the bulb is only good for 2000-3000 hours (depending on if you use bright or economy mode)... Read full review »

Purchasing a device to watch movies and television is no easy thing these days. Plasma, LCD, Rear-Projection, CRT, or HD-Ready are only a few words to be confronted with. And when thinking about getting a big-screen, it does not make the decision any easier. It adds actually a... Read full review »

Optoma HD70 Impressions

Okay, so I broke down and picked up an Optoma HD70 yesterday after a month or so of agonizing over it. I'd like to share my thoughts with the community so far.

A bit about my setup. I have a dedicated home theatre room (10'x 15'), seating at 12', fully... Read full review »

I have owned an Optoma EP 719 XGA projector for about a year and find it an impressive unit for the price. However, when Optoma released the HD 70, a full 720p projector, for under $1000, I had to buy it. The projector is light, but substantially-constructed with a sturdy gloss white case. I was... Just replaced my DOA Toshiba TDP-T90 (their customer service is horrid)with the HD70. Was originally worried about the lower lumens (1000 vs 2000 with the toshiba). Can't say I can even tell in most lighting conditions. Have this in fairly large room (for the city at least) 22x25.

Thinking about the HD71? Read on...
I have had the Optoma HD70 projector for about 3 1/2 years now and find nothing wrong with it. I know that sounds pessimistic. But, as a full-time trainer I've been underwhelmed by Optoma's performance in the board room.
However, the HD70 has been a true... Read full review »

I was deciding whether to purchase a projector or bigscreen of some sort (LCD/Plasma/Projection) and decided to do the projector route.
