Animal Boxing (Nintendo DS, 2008)
In Animal Boxing, players face off in fair and friendly fistfights against dozens of animal opponents, each with a different boxing style. Cat, fox, rhino, bull, penguin -- each has particular strengths to defend against and weaknesses to attack. The game's "Slam Down" control system has players holding the DS upside down. The touch screen, above, displays the opponent's upper body, and legs and feet are shown in the display-only screen, below. Players tap and drag in the touch screen to throw jabs, hooks, and uppercuts. Feints, dodges, and other fancy footwork are seen in the lower screen, hinting at the opponent's next move. Players design their own boxer characters, choosing gender, appearance, and apparel, and then face a succession of beastly pugilists to win the Village Champion Belt. Two Animal Boxing players can fight head-to-head through a DS wireless connection.
