The new Nikon D70s and Nikkor AF-S DX f/3.5-f4.5/18-70mm G IF-ED Zoom
Canon's EOS D350/Digital Rebel XT was a revolutionary re-design of the original Rebel, but Nikon's new D70s is more an evolutionary update of the dLSR that POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY magazine chose as it's CAMERA OF THE YEAR in 2004. At first glance the D70s appears identical to its predecessor, but... Read full review »
The Nikon D70s put a dent in my wallet... and my hardwood floor!
After dropping my Nikon F65 35mm SLR down a scree slope, and then more recently submerging it in the Pacific Ocean, I thought it might not be a bad idea to get a new and improved camera – a digital SLR. At the same time, I was hesitant to go and spend over a thousand dollars on something that I... Read full review »
The cream of the crop!
If you are the type of person who only uses their digital camera for snap shots, this camera is NOT for you. If, however, you are the type of photographer would like to exercise complete control of your photo taking in a digital format, you'll love the D70. This is a serious piece of photo... Best Camera we've owned
As our baby daughter was becoming more mobile, we quickly realized that the run-of-the-mill digital cameras were not up to the task of catching her in action. Most of them have to much latency between when you push the shutter release button until they capture the picture.
We did some...

An excellent starter digital SLR
I purchased the Nikon D70 about two and a half years ago, when I temporarily moved from the United States to Rome, Italy. I had long thought about getting a digital SLR, but both the price and the abandonment of film gave me pause. With an upcoming move abroad, however, I made the leap--knowing... Read full review »
Excellent Entry Level Body With A Few Compromises
First I would like to note I'm not going to cover every spec of the camera because the specifications can be found on the box or Nikon's website and I refuse to use that as filler like some reviewers will This is clearly not what this site was intended for when it was first created. With that... Read full review »
When Going To a Gunfight, Bring a Big Gun
Let's get right to the guts of it. I love my Nikon D70. It is, without a doubt, the most powerful and versatile imaging tool I've ever laid my hands on. I've owned other superb P&S digicams, but comparing them to the D70 is an exercise in futility. The D70 ain't in the same ball park with those P&S... Read full review »
Great camera, but read this if buying secondhand
The Nikon D70 is the only DSLR that I've owned, though I've also used the Canon EOS 300D and 350D (Digital Rebel and Rebel XT resp.). I bought it in 2004, more than 1.5 years ago.
In these 20 or so months, I've shot more than 26,000 images, for work (journalistic), family, weddings and...

Nikon D70s - Excellent digital SLR
First I must explain that I have resisted switching from film cameras to digital for many years. Yes I own a digital point and shoot, I guess everyone does, but as a working pro my Nikon F3, F5 and my medium format cameras have been my mainstay. I got an assignment that required digital images... Read full review »
An excellent pro-am entry camera
I owned a total of six digital cameras before purchasing my D70, ranging from an execrable little Agfa that drained a pair of AAs to produce a dozen terrible VGA shots thorugh a Canon G2 that was a pleasure to use. The Canon was pretty good, with manual controls and decent image quality. But what I... Read full review »
