I have had this camera...
I have had this camera now for almost one year. During this time I have taken more than 2,000 photographs. Of these, more than 1,000 were truly spectacular. Fewer than 100 were under/over-exposed. You really should think about this...
If you are interested in a simple-to-use camera for family and vacation pictures, snap-shots at birthday parties and such, you should look elsewhere.
This camera doesn't perform well in low light and with flash. At a party, if you are too close to your subject, you will get a washed out...

This was bought as an upgrade to my CoolPix 990. Yeah, it's better, but at a price of 850 to 1000 bucks, I can't recommend it. No filter threads.
