Perfection in the form of a wide angle zoom

Pros Sharp, contrasty and virtually distortion free. Constant f/2.8.
Cons Heavy. VERY PRICEY.
Recommended it? Yes

This lens, along with the 80-200mm f/2.8, should be in the bag of anyone who owns a Nikon AF body.

Although somewhat ridiculously priced new, the old saying "you get what you pay for" certainly applies in this case. In return for your hard earned bucks, you get superior optics and... Read full review »

Pros Optical quality, built, handling, with 4 primes combined!
Recommended it? Yes

Of all the Nikon wide-angle zoom lenses I own, the AF Zoom-Nikkor 20-35mm f/2.8D IF impresses me the most. Having the opportunity to handle such a lens makes me realize that Nikon really knows how to make a beautiful lens. I had my eyes on this one for a very long time, but never had the courage to... Pros Beautiful pictures and cheaper now that it has been replaced by 17-35/2.8
Cons Expensive, heavy, no hyperfocal distance scale, big filter size
Recommended it? Yes

This is one of my very favorite lenses in the world. That's the gist of it. However, there is a little more to the story. Nikon replaced this lens in late 1999, in favor of the 17-35 AFS lens, in part because of the emerging digital cameras, which need wider angle lenses to approximate the... Read full review »

Cons It's pricey

I wouldn't like to think of life without this lens.

I am a freelance photographer who does a good amount of newspaper work. Of all my lenses, this is definately the on I rely on most often. The zoom really saves time switching lenses. My everyday camera bag consists of this lens, a... Read full review »

Sharp, Fast, Convenient Zoom Pro-Quality Zoom At A Pro Price

Pros Sharp, Fast, Versatile, Excellent Construction and Feel
Cons The Price For All This Wonderfulness...
Recommended it? Yes

Boy, did I save my pennies for a long, long time to get this beauty! Prior to getting this zoom I would cover events by switching between a 35mm and 24mm lens, and later between the 20mm and 35-70mm zoom. No matter how quickly I changed lenses, I would find myself missing shots or being stuck with... Read full review »
