Pros -Quick setup, high reliability thus far -Sleek design
Cons -Dumbed down UI, initially
Recommended it? Yes

I got this router from newegg.com with the Wireless NIC bundle for 86 dollars and got a 35 dollar rebate. Got this as a christmas gift for the parents. It's initial setup is pretty user friendly, but it got our connection type wrong initially. That was easy enough to correct however. It assumed... Read full review »

Decent for the price

Pros Inexpensive, Easy to setup, Wireless abilities
Cons Has DNS resolution issues, Doesn't support WPA-PSK as stated!
Recommended it? No

I am currently in ITT-Tech for Computer Networking Systems. I have also attended a year of CISCO training for routing and switching.

This router has decent features overall. However, it is only meant for low level home networking. Even when doing that you will come across glitches.

Steer Clear of this product and this especially this company

byphiltrout Dec 6, 2004

Pros ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
Cons Range, performance, reliability, tech support, customer service (i.e. Everything).
Recommended it? No

I bought this about 4 months ago. Signal strength was terrible. Range was less than 30 feet. Signal strength would fluctuate from 1 mps to 40 mps constantly without any apparent source of external interference. After spending hours with technical support, they recommended exchanging it at the... Read full review »

Pros Ease-Setup for Dummies Size-very small, sleek
Cons No Custom Firmware Version 1 some bugs
Recommended it? Yes

The WGR614 is a good router with only a fe problems. One problem is the availability of custom firmware. Although this isn't a problem for everyone it does restrict the options of the advanced user. It has all the basic features of a good router
WEP: 64bit and 128bit
Port Forwarding:... Read full review »

DO NOT BUY THIS ROUTER!!! (NETGEAR WGR614)

Pros Cheap, seemingly easy to install and use (at first).
Cons terrible product, terrible support, random crashes, continuous hassle.
Recommended it? No

I had problems with this router right from the start.

It randomly reboots itself during normal usage (it's not timing out on an idle connection, it drops active connections), it likes to lose my settings (including resetting its password to "password" making it ever-so-secure), I've gone... Read full review »

Not worth the Hassle

Pros Looks spiffy, good signal, easy setup for insecure use
Cons ran warm, had to reboot router after all changes, minimal tech support.
Recommended it? No

After much research I bought one online and it worked great until WEP 128bit encryption was enabled. Wasted lots of time and effort on this inferior product. Can't reccomend for anthing but light home use with minimal security. Went with LinkSys and it worked like a charm for a lower price. Read full review »

Cons Doesn't work, bad tech support

I purchased this for my father's business, consisting of a laptop running XP Home and a desktop running Windows 98. Had it running as a hub for a week or so before he got his cable internet installed. I plugged in the cable internet and off we go!

Not very far.

The router worked... Read full review »

I finally made the jump to wireless when I saw that this router could be had for only $45 after rebate.

In literally 30 minutes, I had the router setup and was connecting to it with my PowerBook and with my Xbox without a flaw. I couldn't ask for anything more. Read full review »

Netgear Wireless Router (WGR614NA): Know your broadband environment before buying

Pros Easy setup. Slim body design
Cons Lack of Netgear support. Issues connecting to Alcatel modems
Recommended it? No

As indicated by many reviews, this can be an extremely easy router to install and configure to get up and running on wireless but it comes with a big "IF" attached.

I previously had Negear's RP614 router and wanted wireless "g" so I purchased Netgear's WGR614NA router.
