We all are acquianted with the fact that monsters are in our closets, waiting until we are half asleep to scare us, then to quickly scramble, slither, or creep back into the darkness. But did you know that the monsters are actually afraid of us, and that the only reason to scare us is to collect... Read full review »

My husband and I went to see Monsters Inc and we both loved it! We don't have any children, so for people who might think it's only for kids I say "Go see it!". It was a great movie. With Epinions still late to put up their Best Films for 2001 category, I've decided to take to the reviews and epinionate a few of my favourites from 2001 instead. Overall, the amount of great family films was what I was most impressed with during 2001 - it's so easy to recall the times when... Read full review »

Pros Will make all ages chuckle; encourages kids to recognize that some "monsters"...
Cons Even at less than 90 minutes, it runs a bit long.
Recommended it? Yes

Before Monsters, Inc. even began, we were put through a multitude of coming attractions that made me remember why I sometimes loathe going to kiddie movies: every possible commercial angle is used to get little Johnny or Suzie to nudge Mom and Dad and whine, "I want that!" or "I want to see that!"... Monsters out of the dark....

byschoolnursern Dec 4, 2001

Pros Monsters are fun-loving and cuddly, rather than the monsters under the bed at night.
Cons Not recommended for really little ones
Recommended it? Yes

Although the base of the movie was good, it appeared to use to much of bits and pieces from other characters, movies and t.v. shows. Monstropolis and Montropolis from Superman? Sully from TV? The Snowman from Rudolph? A little too much pulling from outside sources to create characters.

When my good friend asked me to go see Monsters inc. with him I thought he was kidding. After all we are in college, isn't that movie for kids? Well, it was a Saturday night and I didn't have any plans, so I went along with it.
This being my first Pixar film I really didn't know what to... Read full review »

Monsters, Inc. 2-Disc Set DVD

Intelligent funny adorable and beautifully animated MONSTERS INC. will delight fans of SHREK and TOY STORY while drawing a new audience of curious kid-friendly viewers. Billy Crystal and John Goodman make a fiercely funny comedic team as job partners and best friends Mike Crystal--a little green guy with one huge eyeball and Sulley Goodman--a big purple and blue fuzzy guy with dinosaur spikes down his back. Mike and Sully work at MONSTERS INC. a gigantic corporation that captures the screams of little children and turns them into energy. To make the children scream the monsters must enter each child's bedroom through the closet door then deliver a frightening affront. The only problem is kids aren't scared anymore. And because of this problem Monsters Inc. is in a jam. But when one little girl Boo Mary Gibbs follows Sully through her closet door and into the factory she brings an even more dire issue to the fore: the monsters are actually terrified of children. From Pixar Animation Studios MONSTERS INC. is an exciting adventure with a sweet happy ending. Both the DVD and VHS releases include the animated short FOR THE BIRDS and a home video exclusive performance of "Put That Thing Back Where It Came From Or So Help Me" created by Mike Wazowski.
