I have had my "G LENS" for over 8 years now. I started with my Minolta 600si camera and wanted a fast lens. Pros Fantastic build, world class image quality, fast f/2.8 throughout the range, lens length...
Cons Heavy, large, expensive, paint job on the cheap side. Front rotates, so no grads.

The Minolta 80-200 2.8 APO G is a great lens, but not one for the weak of body or wallet. Unlike many competing lenses in this space, this is a true 2.8, meaning that it lets in a lot of light allowing the photographer to shoot at much higher shutter speeds (offering more creative possibilities)... I don't own one of these lenses, but the newspaper I used to work for owned one. I used this lens many Friday nights to shoot local football games. I wish that I had about $1000 to buy one (or at least that's what I think it costs).
