Pros Built-in coffee mill, reusable filter, programmable timer, pause-and-pour feature
Cons Challenging to assemble/clean, grinds too finely, small capacity filter, shuts off...
Recommended it? Yes

The Melitta Mill & Brew Coffeemaker is a reasonably priced machine with several attractive features usually found on higher-priced models. Big pluses include:

*a built-in coffee mill (ok, so it's not a burr grinder--whaddya want for 80 bucks?)
*a reusable filter basket (no more paper... Read full review »

Can't imagine using any other coffee maker again

Pros Delicious coffee, easy to use and clean
Cons Some plastic parts are a little delicate
Recommended it? Yes

To begin, while we are serious coffee lovers, we are not afficianados. I don't know anything about blade torque or grind angles or the harvest dates of Indonesian coffee. But whether it comes from a restaurant or a truck stop or Starbucks, I know good coffee when I drink it. And this coffee maker... Read full review »

Pros easy and quick to use, brews great coffee
Cons heat turns off after 1 hr
Recommended it? Yes

I love this coffee maker! I bought my Melitta Mill & Brew a couple months ago after trying many other makes and models over the years. I was tired of enjoying coffee whenever I was out at a restaurant or coffee house only to come home and try to equal the experience in my own kitchen (inevitably... Read full review »

What an Alarm Clock!

Pros Automatically grinds and brews your coffee for you in the morning!
Cons Requires more beans than normal, especially when brewing small amounts.
Recommended it? Yes

The ingenious design of this coffee maker allows you to set the coffee maker to turn whole beans and water into your morning coffee automatically. The key to the design is that the coffee beans are ground in place within the permanent filter. Unfortunately this permanent filter is also the cause of... Read full review »

Pros Excellent idea! Great cup of coffee. Easy to clean. Excellent price.
Cons none!
Recommended it? Yes

Originally I bought the Cuisinart Grind N Brew ($79) at Costco. That was a poorly designed grinder and brewer because the grinds always went into the water supply source and was impossible to clean out. I researched more grind and brew type makers and found the ratings for the Melitta Mill & Brew... Read full review »

Pros No filters, easy to clean mesh basket, no-drip interrupt, fresh coffee on awakening
Cons Very noisy grinding, pricey, no onboard water filtration
Recommended it? Yes

I'd been contemplating this machine for some time, but didn't want to shell out a hundred bucks on something I don't really need.

"Don't need." Heh. What did I know?

Turns out I received it as a Christmas gift. Coffee heaven!

This is one attractive machine. I expected... Read full review »

A review from someone who owned the Krups Grind and Brew

byrivergater Feb 1, 2002

Pros Great coffee, easier to clean than most
Cons Lefties will need to use right hand when filling machine with water.
Recommended it? Yes

For Christmas, Santa brought me the Krups Grind and Brew coffee maker. I used that everyday for about three weeks but it began to annoy me as each additional morning passed and I would make another pot of coffee. This coffee maker is very annoying to clean because the grinds get into every nook and... Read full review »

Pros Freshest coffee ever! Easy cleaning and so easy to program.
Cons Coffee doesn't stay warm for very long on the heat plate after brewed.
Recommended it? Yes

I received this for Christmas and I absolutely love it! I had never tried freshly ground coffee before...such a huge difference! I used to think the coffee at work was pretty good but not anymore. Now I make a few extra cups at home and bring it in a thermos...it just can't compare!

It... Read full review »

Brew Basket

bymariabythesea Jan 9, 2002
9 Helpfuls 10 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? 1 Comment
Pros Attractive design - ability to stop and get cup of coffee while still brewing
Cons Brew basket - allows too much water to flow through = weak coffee
Recommended it? No

The design of the brew basket is extremely poor. I previously owned a Toshiba and am sorry I gave it away...only because I felt I wanted a new machine. Toshiba no longer makes this model. Toshiba's basket was one unit..consisting of solid sides and netting only at bottom. Allowed for slower brewing... Read full review »
