Sideswiped (Nintendo DS, 2009)
Sideswiped is an arcade-style racer that encourages players to careen through levels as recklessly as possible. Gamers climb behind the wheel of 11 different vehicles, from a speedy sports car to an armored truck, and then smash their way through five different locations, including New York and Las Vegas. Players earn points by crashing into opponents to set off destructive combos and massive explosions, and the money culled from events can be used to purchase new engines, boosts, and body upgrades. In addition to the "Normal" mode, where racers compete to cross the finish line first, gamers can attempt to wreak as much havoc as possible in "Destruction" and "Crash Race" modes, race against the clock in "Time Attack" mode, try to unload an explosive device before it detonates in "Bomb" mode, and speed down a ramp to crash into cars in "Bowling" mode. And for those who grow tired of demolishing computer opponents, Sideswiped lets up to four gamers smash each other to bits in wireless multiplayer action.
