The Last Logitech Product...I Will Buy Them No More
I have to say that after reading through these reviews, i can understand the frustration that many have reported with Logitech Quickcam software since i am in the same boat.
Very recently my father was interested in getting a webcam to stay in touch with the family out of town and he already...

"The QuickCam Pro 4000, more than just a WebCam"...
I just installed wi-fi (wireless internet sharing thingy) so i can share my interet connection with my dad and decided to install MSN messenger. This Christmas i obtained the QuickCam Pro 4000, which recieved the 2004 WebCam award. Christmas day i installed it and worked brilliantly. I don't know... Read full review »
Decent Hardware, Terrible Software and Support
I will not dwell on the image quality since it is has been extensively covered already. I will cover the software that comes with it. I am technical and I can shed some light into the mediocrity of the drivers and QuickCam (8.4.1) software.
After installing and reinstalling (with latest...

Great Cam, software fine on XP
Great little camera, easy to install and gave a good picture with reasonable refresh rate even in low light (single 60W bulb overhead)
Face following software works surprisingly well, within the limits of what the camera can see on no zoom.
Despite what other reviewers have...

Picture and sound good, Mac software incomplete.
I bought the Quickcam Pro 4000 at Newegg.com for $73.63 incl. shipping and tax. After serious installation problems (see "Software" below) I got a pretty good picture and sound. One slight hardware problem: You have to push pretty hard to snap the camera into the base, but then it holds well... Read full review »

After much research on the pros and cons of what camera to get, I went ahead and purchased the logitech pro 4000. This camera is quite impressive compared to my previous labtech which needed so much light it was unusable in low light situations. Not this camera. This camera needs no extra light in... OK camera, not what you would expect for the price.
I was rather disapointed with this camera, for 3 reasons:
1) The picture quality was not really all that great. I've used other webcams before, and for the cost of this thing I expected better quality. I talked to Logitech support, and they admitted it was not as good as it could be.

Overall a good camera for the price you pay!
I had problems right at the beginning with the webcam when I bought it a year ago. You have to download software from the Logitech website. After that, you're good to go.
The camera is great. It works with laptops that use Windows XP Pro; it has a little button that you can press to take...

Ditto: Cannot get camera to operate under Windows XP professional.
I bought this camera to chat with my family back home. The install was easy and the quality of the image looked great in the configuration program, but it will not work with Logitech's software (or anything besides Netmeeting)! This seems to be a common problem under XP- pro. When I followed all... Read full review »
QuickCam Software Locks Up Win 2000
Received my Pro 4000 for Christmas. My system is running Win 2000 Pro, 1Gig Memory, MSI motherboard with AMD 1Gig processor. Have lastest MSI drivers. Started installation from CD provided by Logitech, and during installation it checked for update on Logitech web site and found latest. So I... Read full review »
