This ’07 is ‘spot on’ Robert Young Estate Chardonnay. The intense, tropical aromas of guava, nectarine, melon and spice really show off the characteristics of the Robert Young clone. It has a supple mouth feel and bright flavors with hints of lemon and honeysuckle, backed by a big French oak barrel component giving it a soft finish that lasts forever. I’ve tasted a number of wines from 2007, and they were nearly all excellent- this was a superior vintage in Sonoma County.
