LG Front-Loader LOOKS Good, But Beware of Dubious Durability

bymrkstvns Aug 2, 2007

Pros Solid feel, attractive design, low energy and water consumption
Cons Not dependable
Recommended it? Yes

One of the great things about moving into a new house is getting to pick out all kinds of neat new things to fill it with. New curtains, new accessories, new fridge, new washer and dryer. The new toys are great fun...until they stop being so fun. Unfortunately, that's happened a lot earlier than... Read full review »

Reliable Machine with a Few Quirks

Pros Easy to use, gets out tough stains, operates quietly and efficiently.
Cons Unbalanced load issues, monthly draining task, inability to switch door direction.
Recommended it? Yes

Background:
Buying an expensive appliance is a dreaded chore for my husband and me, particularly because neither one of us is very good at making decisions.  However, when our hand-me-down Maytag Neptune (yes, the awful original model that, by the time it was given to us, had had every part... Front Loader does not disappoint

Pros Clean clothes, energy efficient, good washer.
Cons Door always open, vibrates on floor.
Recommended it? Yes

Bought into this new technology when my old and trusted top loader took a dive. After a debate on repair and cleaning costs we decided to buy new. Studied almost every model and style of washer and decided on this LG front loader early in 2008. Waited to review it myself after using it for a while... Read full review »

Love It:: Hardly Any Ifs, Ands or Buts

Pros Looks great, works great, Energy Star Rated
Cons Door not reversible, limits install options
Recommended it? Yes

Because some of the complaints from other reviewers are so vehement and harsh, I'll start by listing the ONLY complaint or concern that I have.

That the doors are not reversible is a problem for which LG has no good excuse. Assuming you pair this machine with LG's "partner" dryer - in my... Read full review »

I HATE this washer, it is GARBAGE

Pros None! It is garbage
Cons Smell, mould, extreme vibration and noise during spin. Cannot be levelled
Recommended it? No

This was a colossal waste of money! I have suffered with this for 2.5 years and finally can't take it anymore and am buying a new HE top load. This Tromm front load Washer rocks all over the floor every time it spins, no matter if I use low, medium, high or ultra high spin. I have re levelled over... Read full review »

Pros Water and energy saving. Internal generator. Easy to use.
Cons None.
Recommended it? Yes

When our old machine wore out, I knew I wanted to replace it with an energy efficient front loader. I checked what brands and models were available in our area, decided on a pricepoint, then came to this site and read reviews. Even though there were some negative reviews, we thought most of those... Pros washes large loads, easy to use, quiet
Cons Drum can get smelly if you keep door closed and don't clean the tub (quarterly)
Recommended it? Yes

We bought this Washer along with the matching dryer from Sears about 1 year ago. We have the set stacked in our kitchen hidden away in a closet that barley fits it. We have yet to have any mojor problems with it. One thing I would reccomend is leaving the door to the waher open when its not in use... Read full review »

LG WM2016C: No LE error code (yet)

byalfu47 Sep 15, 2007

Pros Low water usage, nice alert tones, direct drive drum, easy to use
Cons Must leave door open at all times for mildew, cryptic status display
Recommended it? No

Have not yet experienced the near-universal LE error code, nor the funky-smelling wash results. We use Trader Joe's or Ecover 'earth-friendly' unscented and undyed regular old powdered laundry detergent, and the clothes come out smelling fresh and neutral. The machine uses so little water, that I... Read full review »

Pros Sleek appearance. The shiny buttons are very cool. lol
Cons Water inlet errors, and parts replacement are a giant pita.
Recommended it? No

This machine had worked great for 6 months, and then all of the sudden IE error messages started appearing. It has been a recurring problem that they can't seem to fix, and fix RIGHT. (Which is beyond frustrating) Especially considering my year under warranty is looming, and I have a choice to... Read full review »

Beauty is only skin deep with the LG WM2016C

bysaminchicago Sep 20, 2009
12 Helpfuls 13 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? 4 Comments
Pros looks great, good load capacity, clothes are clean, good price point if on sale,
Cons unacceptable vibrations, monthly drain issue, must keep door dry, door not reversible.
Recommended it? No

the LG WM2016C is a masterful work of metal, pretty lights and sounds and what looks to be a promising clothes washing machine is over shadowed by an unacceptable level of vibration in all of the spin cycle settings. A typical front load washer has a minimum of 4 shock absorbers mounted evenly...
