The Bottom Line:
Great bassinet for the money. Very multi-functional!
I am so glad that I received this bassinet when my first baby was born! I have used it so much, and I don't know what I would have done without it! In the beginning weeks at home, it was parked right next to my bedside, so that I could hear every little noise that was made. My little girl loved the vibration, although the batteries do run out fast. I decided to just get rechargeable ones since we run through a million batteries in this household anyway! The vibration unit is a little noisy, but I think it actually lulled my little on to sleep.
As time passed, I slowly rolled this bassinet away from my bed and towards her own room....first in my doorway, then to the hallway, and finally in her room next to her crib. She stayed in the bassinet for the entire time that is allowed....I think it is 3 months, 15 lbs., or until they can roll over, which ever comes first. I just couldn't put her in her crib. She looked so little in there, and I believe she felt more snug and secure in the smaller bassinet.
Soon it had warmed up outside, and next thing, I'm rolling this bassinet out onto the front porch with me. That way I could sit outside and read the paper or whatever, and still have the baby near me. The little shade works great for blocking any stray sunlight, and the casters on the wheels have locks so that it wouldn't roll away. I did purchase one of those elastic nettings that go over a
pack-n-play, and I used it over my bassinet to keep any bugs out. I also attached little toys to rings, and hung them from the sunshade. She absolutely loved being outside, and I didn't have to worry about anything getting her!
My second baby is now 4 months, and we have used this bassinet nonstop. Inside, outside, you name it! I also found it useful to pull into the bathroom for after her bath. I just filled up the bottom with her fresh diaper and sleeper, and away we went. We don't have much counter space in our bathroom, so I put her in the bassinet to lotion her up and get her dressed. And then she would play in there until I got my 2 year old out of the bath! Works like a charm!
Another thing I love about this bassinet is the handy little "basket" in the bottom. It is so helpful to store extra diapers, blankets, and burp cloths in.
This bassinet is so sturdy! Although it isn't allowed, which 2 year olds don't always care what is allowed, she has stood on the side bars to peek into the bassinet. This bassinet has never attempted to tip over one time!
I didn't have much trouble putting it together or taking it apart for storage. I believe the second time I put it together I did it without the instructions. All in all this is one of the best baby gifts I received!
