I have owned the Kitchenaid Heavy Duty mixer since 1993, I believe that is the correct year.  I got it for a Christmas gift from my husband at a time in our lives when I have no idea how he afforded to buy it.  Anyway, it is the one item I would not want to live without.  I have a large family (7... Pros Heavy duty easy to clean
Cons If you don't use it all the time your gonna have problems
Recommended it? Yes

Ok kitchenaid has a newer designed mixers which are not built like this, they have a cheep bowl and not a sturdy lift making it not good for heavy doughs such as pasta. the bowl will flex and pop out. This mixer has one plastic gear that is hard to break, if you get something jammed in there like... Read full review »

Pros Truly a durable and trouble free piece of equipment.
Cons Missing attachments. Speed control tops-out at '9', rather than '10'.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased a K5SS stand mixer at an estate sale recently, and I'm thrilled with all of the positive reviews of this particular model. For years, I've yearned for an Artisan, but never did enough baking to deem it a worthwhile purchase. When I saw this mixer and had the chance to nab it for $50, I... Read full review »

Pros Great attachments. Looks professional.
Cons Heavy but not heavy-duty.

I grew up in a KitchenAid home, so when I received this mixer as a wedding gift, I was ecstatic, even though my husband's family were quite loud in expressing their opinions that Bosch mixers are much better.

Not long after I received my mixer, my mother's (which she had owned since I can... Read full review »

Pros Easy to use, handles large quantities well, and easy to clean.
Cons It does require a rather large "footprint" on one's kitchen counter.
Recommended it? Yes

I used an older Kitchenaid mixer when I prepared dinners for 150 people. I have a K-Tec in whose performance I am very disappointed. For my birthday last year my children gave me a KitchenAid 325 Watts K5SS Heavy Duty Commercial Stand Mixer which was purchased off Ebay at a greatly reduced price... Read full review »

I got this kitchenaid mixer 3 years ago. It is one of the best mixers I have ever used. It is still going strong after 3 years of abuse. I can use it all day during my christmas baking season.

The mixer came with stainless steel bowl, three different mixing tools, and a splash guard. I... Read full review »

Pros You'll continue to be amazed at what it can do!
Cons That the mixer doesn't already come with the shield and bowl lids.
Recommended it? Yes

I received this mixer as a gift for an anniversary. My mother had the same type of mixer, a similar model having the same transmission, and said she wouldn't have anything else. We have all battled with cookie batters that were far too heavy for hand mixers and even the standard Artisan stand mixer... Read full review »

Pros Can be left alone to work on its own.
Cons The con is also a pro i.e. heavy.

I don't use it often but when I need it, it performs! My mother's roll recipe is just horrendous to make without this wonderful gadget. Sure saves my aching arms in kneading dough. Use a hand-held for whipping small amounts of cream. Read full review »

Pros Easy to use. Cleanup is a snap! Powerful and not bogged down by heavy doughs!
Cons Extremely heavy and quite a space hog.

I love this mixer. I've wanted a KitchenAid mixer for several years now, but the price was always seemingly out of my budget. Every year, however, found me buying another mixer (or two) as they eventually would burn out with any heavy doughs. Since I make lots of holiday cookies, this was always a... Read full review »

Pros It lets you keep your hands free for other things while it mixes!
Cons It's very heavy and large...but what good mixer isn't?

I Recently purchased this KitchenAid heavy duty mixer. I'm very excited to have it! I do cake decorating on the side of my full time job (as a mother and wife), and the mixer really cut down on the time I spend on making frosting for my cakes. Some recipes require beating for 7 to 10 minutes and it... Read full review »

Got this mixer for a wedding gift. Always wanted one. Back then, I coveted my Grammie's 60 year old Sunbeam bowl mixer (which still works to this day!) So, I was thrilled to finally get one of my own. However, unless you're a regular baker (and I wasn't) you may not have much use for such a... Read full review »

WHY ANOTHER KITCHENAID MIXER?

At first, I wasn't going to buy another KitchenAid mixer.
I was thinking about buying the Electrolux. But then I thought I'd try this one out first. Also, the Electrolux has an 8-qt. bowl, which qualifies it to make up to about 20lbs. of dough, and I'd... Read full review »

We've had ours now for seven years and couldn't say enough about it. Ours is the stainless finish and I love the way it looks on the counter (no need to put it up after each use). It isn't intended for use with very small quantities, but for everything else does great. I make a lot of cheesecakes... Read full review »

I purchased this for my wife just under 2 years ago since she and my mother in law love to make holiday cookies. It worked flawlessly for the dozen or so times that it was used over the past 2 years.
