Not as good as a waring

bywsanders Sep 18, 2000

Pros Higher capacity, disassembles
Cons Expensive, does not crush ice well
Recommended it? No

After my classic Waring blender's motor burned out after 40 years (it was a wedding gift to my parents) I shopped around and bought the KSB3WH. I'm disappointed - it's significantly more expensive than a regular blender, but it doesn't do as good a job crushing ice as the old Waring (it leaves... Read full review »

This is not your mothers blender

byroync Jan 19, 2000

Pros Strong, reliable, and the Kitchen Aid name.
Cons No pouring spout
Recommended it? Yes

The Kitchen Aid 3 Speed Classic laughs at ice and other previously un-blendables. With strong thick blades and a heavy glass pitcher the Kitchen Aid Classic is the blender every home needs. Over the last 20 years I have spent well over $100 on cheaper plastic blenders. I feel now I will not have to... Read full review »

Did they put any thought into this?

Pros glass canister, simple buttons
Cons hard to hand clean inside of lid
Recommended it? No

There is no pour spout, the inner side of the lid has complex plastic ridges making it very hard to clean by hand. If you're like me and you blend every day, sometimes multiple times, you want something you can easily and quickly clean by hand and not depend on the dishwasher. The ring and pinion... It's time for Margaritas!

bytoyotaas Jun 20, 2001

Pros Crushes Ice at any speed, doesn't bog down, easy to clean.
Cons a little heavy, must use a grounded outlet, lid is a little flimsy, pricey.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this blender after my black and decker blender made it's last Margarita. I bought it at Wal-Mart for $78.00 and although it is expensive it is worth every penny. When I bought the blender I picked up the base of all blenders to see which one was heavier because heavier appliances are... Read full review »

oh yeah...it crushes ice

Pros crushes ice, glass container, heavy base
Cons no pouring spout, cost
Recommended it? Yes

I wanted a blender that would finally, really crush us and this blender does it--easily. As a matter of fact you have to watch against over-blending. This is a very powerful blender. It rarely gets hung up on a piece of ice or frozen fruit. It plows right through them. It has a nice glass... Read full review »

How to replace the coupler(coupling) for Kitchenaid KSB5 Blender

bymj06132006 May 31, 2006

Pros Very sturdy, looking good, I used to make dough for Indian food (idly, dosa )
Cons the coupler is a useless, it is very soft that it burn out fast
Recommended it? No

I bought this product and it worked fine except the coupler (coupling) that connect the glass jar and the base unit worn out quite fast. I thought this is going to be another useless blender. Kitchenaid does not provider you any support and the nearest service center is 200 miles from my place. I... Read full review »

Fails at Blending

byjohnr55 Mar 18, 2006

Pros attractive, easy to disassemble
Cons blending action subpar; leaves chunks
Recommended it? No

I purchased one of these blenders also when it was relatively new, seduced by its appearance compared to my Waring and Oster commercial models. Initially, I enjoyed the wide base assembly as it was easy to work with. I also enjoyed the pushbuttons, which have since become much more common.

KSB3 Blender Coupler Disintegration Issue

byjayspencer66 Oct 19, 2004
3 Helpfuls 4 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? 3 Comments
Pros Quiet, easy to use and cleanup, looks great!
Cons Price, and that an $8 part, the coupler, disintegrates with such apparent ease!...
Recommended it? Yes

We have had our blender for about 5 years or so, and enjoy many things about it, not the least of which is the quietness of its operation. The blender is not a daily tool for us, but rather one that is used periodically but infrequently. I would rate our total hours of usage as being very low... Read full review »

The Ultimate ice crusher

Pros Crushes ice at all speeds.
Cons Leaks a little and can be a little heavy
Recommended it? Yes

The Kitchen Aid 3-speed blender is one of my favorite wedding presents. I used it the moment I unwrapped it. It is excellent for making frozen drinks. Very easy to clean. It does tend to leak a little if you don't put it together tight enough though. It has three speeds as the name states and it... Read full review »

Feel the Power! Worth every penny...

Pros Very quiet, fast and thorough. Can handle anything, pours and cleans easily.
Cons None
Recommended it? Yes

We splurged on this blender over an Oster model costing about half as much, and are thrilled with our choice. A couple cons cited by others puzzle me; the substantial metal base makes for very quiet and stable operation. Cheaper plastic base blenders irritate me with noise and vibration when...
