Great idea for an ice cream maker but poorly designed drive adapter.

Pros Double walled freezer bowl - no ice and salt mess
Cons The drive adapter pops off before the ice cream is frozen stiff enough.
Recommended it? No

The KitchenAid KICA ice cream maker attachment for KitchenAid stand mixers is a great idea. It is made to work with any KitchenAid mixer no matter if it is a tilt head type or the type that raises and lowers the bowl. The main part of the attachment is a special double walled bowl that has some... Read full review »

If you have problems, it isn't the unit, it is probably your fridge freezer.

Pros Large capacity, powerful, easy to use. Very fast when bowl is properly frozen.
Cons No handle, a little awkward and messy pouring custard base in. Requires planning
Recommended it? Yes

If you want to have more control over what you and your family eat, making your own ice cream, sorbets and frozen yogurts is a way to indulge while controlling calories and eliminating preservatives and chemicals!

If you have any problems, it probably isn't the bowl, or the recipe, it is... Read full review »

Pros Makes excellent ice cream
Cons Leaks after several months of use

LIKES:
* Makes excellent ice cream.
The ice cream texture is much better than that of other ice cream makers I have used in the past. Soft serve ice cream is made and can be eaten right out of the bowl. You can place the ice cream in the freezer for several hours to make regular ice... Read full review »

Pros Best ice cream maker under $500 assuming you own the mixer.
Cons Pour mix into spinning mixer is awkward.
Recommended it? Yes

This ice cream maker features a bowl that will fit any mixer. It has 2 side holes and a different sized pins in the front and back to fit any mixer.

The dasher also does not attach directly to the mixer head. There is a hub that attaches to your mixer head, then that attaches to the... Read full review »

I received the Kitchen Aid 2 Quart Ice Cream Maker attachment as a Christmas gift from my husband. He gave it to me because I am an ice cream fiend and really wanted my own ice cream maker. He researched a number of different free-standing machines. His conclusion was that free-standing machines... Read full review »

This attachment is great to make homemade ice cream in 1 to 2 hours. Makes enough for 6 to 8 big servings. Multiple speeds for any type of ice cream making. Best part is that no rock salt is needed; only a freezer. The Kitchen Aid does all the work. Read full review »

Pros Great Design, Good Value
Cons None submitted

I got this attachment last summer and got a lot of use out of it. It makes ice cream very well, but it can be a bit soft. This isn't a problem if eaten right away, but it does mean that it can freeze solid in the freezer. I solved this problem by scooping the ice cream / sorbet into small... Read full review »
