KitchenAid hand blender works great from soup to nuts.
Also known as an "outboard motor" in the professional kitchen scene, the handheld stick blender is helpful particularly when you want to do any job a blender would ordinarily do without dirtying an extra blender carafe. You can also use it for all sorts of jobs that a blender simply can't do.

I got this for christmas from my dh. I'm really happy with it. It seems durable so far. I use it mostly for pureeing soups, although we've tried doing smoothies with it.
