Always A Kirby!

Pros The Kirby G5 is very useful in every part of the house.
Cons My only complaint is the cost of the bags. No non-name brand bags available.
Recommended it? Yes

A Kirby has been in my family since I was born in the late 50s.  So I don't ever remember being without one.

My G5 takes on any chore that I give it.  From vacuuming out the house to the car, it gets every spec of dirt.  While it is on the heavy side, it is very durable and takes a... Read full review »

Is It Worth It?
Everyone has heard of the Kirby vacuum cleaner.  Buying one can be a big decision for a person to make, and it's mostly because of their cost.  The question most people ask first is usually, whether or not it is worth it.  I have owned mine for four years, and my mother... Pros Shampooer works great. easy to use, repairs seldomely needed
Cons If there were any, would I still have it 10 years later???
Recommended it? Yes

In 1997, I bought the Hoover "Windtunnel" vacuum, as they advertised it was supposed to be better than any other vacuum. Well, yes it was, for the 6 months I had it. It always clogged, and I always had to get it repaired. I had just got it back from the repair shop, and i started using it. IT... Read full review »

Pros does clean great IF you have carpet
Cons Heavy, bulky, very costly, only uses expensive Kirby bags.
Recommended it? No

Let me start by saying what a sucker I am. My husband and I moved into our house 4 years ago and needed a new vacuum since ours was broken in the move, so when the Kirby guy showed up on our doorstep he must have seen the words sucker written on my forehead. I am a major germophobe and was sold... Read full review »

Pros Unbeatable. Will do everything related to cleaning, and then some.
Cons Heavy. Expensive. Noisy. Hard to find the bags
Recommended it? Yes

I've been considering selling my G5 Kirby, because,
1. It is too darn heavy with its carpet attachment on it
2. It is too darn heavy without its carpet attachment on it.

But what the heck, I have hard wood floors throughout most of the house, and haven't used that carpet... Read full review »

Pros cleans great, will last forever, tech drive makes pushing easy
Cons bad rep due to unethical sales practices

Let me give you some perspective about from where this review comes. I collect vacuums (mostly antiques, some modern) as a hobby... I have about 30 machines in total. I sold vacuums for Sears for two years and sold Kirbys door to door for about three days, and that was 5 years ago. I know more... Read full review »

Pros Reliable, long lasting, powerful
Cons too many accessories, expensive, noisy

We bought the G5 unit back in 1996 of course from a pushy salesman. Since we all know how that all goes, and how that is the most disatisfying part of this vacuum, I will not mention it from here on.

So first the design. This definatly is not like any other vacuum on the market (then and... Read full review »

Pros Very versatile, does a nice job, durable
Cons Extremely expensive, heavy, supplies can be a pain to get

We purchased the Kirby G5 vacuum in 1997. Horrendously overpriced, I'm still not sure how we ended up paying over $1,000 for a vacuum cleaner (note to anyone considering, the price IS negotiable).

We have used this vacuum regularly for a decade now. It's survived two shelties and two... Read full review »

Cons Breaking down constantly, traveling to buy bags.

I got my Kirby from my mom. It's a g5, and worked fine for her, she just got tired of having to go out of her way to buy bags. Well when I went to use it for the first time, it did not work. No power no nothing. I found a vacuum business that worked on several different vacuums and Kirby was one of... Read full review »

The saleslady really pushed us but I'm glad we own this vacuum. We paid about $1,000 for the vacuum, attachments, carpet shampooer, floor waxer and buffer. I love the strong suction power of this vacuum and versatility.

If you are buying it because of the carpet shampooer, don't. It works... Read full review »

I, like many who read this, have had one of the Kirby salesmen enter my home. I already know most vacuums can go over the floor again and again usually removing something that was missed prior. Also, MOST of the attachments would be comparable on any vacuum. Further, the price tag is daunting to... Read full review »

The Best Vacuum You Could Buy

I must first start by saying that I am something of a vacuum aficionado. Ever since I was a kid, I was always fascinated at how these machines worked and I loved seeing what they could do. I hate buying appliances that do only one thing one way. When I first saw that a Kirby could be converted into... Read full review »

I got married in 1963, and like most newlyweds, we were on a tight budget. Outfitting a home with all the essentials took its toll, and I had to settle for an inexpensive vacuum cleaner. I absolutely love this machine and feel that the positives far outweigh the negatives. I have been using my G5 for several years and would never consider going back to a plastic vacuum. Kirby Factory Reconditioned G5 Vacuum Cleaner K120v5

Kirby K120v5 This G5 has been rebuilt and will look almost new. This comes with a brand new tool upgraded after market tools, a 13 foot hose, and the famous pet mini head tool. Tools include hose, floor tool, duster brush, upholstery tool with removable slide brush, and crevice tool. These are high end deluxe tools and people love them. The pet tool mini head has its own brushroll and works great for pet hair, couches, stairs and cars. This will also come with 6 brand new bags. Manufacturers have upgraded the bags to the new 3M style HEPA bags (which are the same bag used on the new style of Kirby), 3 belts (one installed) hand held shampooer, owners manual, 1 12oz bottle of Kirby spot remover, the popular inflator / refrigerator coil cleaner and a Kirby tool caddy. Kirby's are great because they have awesome cleaning power, filtration, and are very durable. Those of you who have used an older Kirby know that they were heavy to use and did not have the best filtration. Please understand that this newer Kirby model (G5) has totally changed and is one of the easiest vacuums to vacuum with. It also has the best filtration that money can buy! So if you have allergies or asthma then this vacuum is for you. It is a pleasure to vacuum with, especially with its self propelled tech drive system that allows you to push it forward and reverse with only 2 lbs of pressure. This vacuum has had its outer cloth bag washed. Since on the Kirby vacuum the outer cloth bag is part of the filtration this is the only sanitary way to sell Kirby's. Manufacturers would not buy a used Kirby unless the outer cloth bag has been washed in a washing machine like they do. It would be no different than vacuuming with a dirty bag in the vacuum. However manufacturers have cleaned and washed the bag and it is sanitary and clean. It also has a micron filtration system (it filters better than most HEPA filtering systems) to insure that all of the dust and dirt stay in the bag and out of your breathing air. This vacuum will come with 6 brand new bags. The most versatile vacuum made. It can go from upright to canister to hand portable to blower to straight suction upright. This is an excellent deep cleaner. This vacuum is designed to last for many years to come, 5 year warranty through their shop. Which covers the motor, the fan, the tech drive, all moving internal parts and all the bearings, even the brushroll bearings. Features: -Tools include tool caddy, brand new 12 foot hose with air valve, 2 extension wands, sprayer, crevice tool, duster tool, upholstery tool, floor tool, extra long flexible crevice tool. Also includes 9 bags, 3 belts, manual and mini turbo head.-Self propelled transmission - The vacuum is the only vacuum that literally seals to your carpet and is the best deep cleaner. However vacuuming is still so easy with the self propelled transmission where you can literally vacuum with one finger.-Consumer Reports ranked the vacuum the most dependable vacuum and it is common to see them running perfect for decades.-5 Years warranty - Rebuilt to like new condition so it qualifies for the 5 year warranty, covers fan, motors, bearings and transmission.-Made in USA.-Distressed: No.-Country of Manufacture: United States. Dimensions: -Overall Height - Top to Bottom: 44.-Overall Width - Side to Side: 16.-Overall Depth - Front to Back: 15.-Overall Product Weight: 24.
