Always A Kirby!
A Kirby has been in my family since I was born in the late 50s. So I don't ever remember being without one.
My G5 takes on any chore that I give it. From vacuuming out the house to the car, it gets every spec of dirt. While it is on the heavy side, it is very durable and takes a...

Is it worth it?
Is It Worth It?
Everyone has heard of the Kirby vacuum cleaner. Buying one can be a big decision for a person to make, and it's mostly because of their cost. The question most people ask first is usually, whether or not it is worth it. I have owned mine for four years, and my mother...

11 years old, and still works as it did in the presentation
In 1997, I bought the Hoover "Windtunnel" vacuum, as they advertised it was supposed to be better than any other vacuum. Well, yes it was, for the 6 months I had it. It always clogged, and I always had to get it repaired. I had just got it back from the repair shop, and i started using it. IT... Read full review »
Kirby sucked me in too
Let me start by saying what a sucker I am. My husband and I moved into our house 4 years ago and needed a new vacuum since ours was broken in the move, so when the Kirby guy showed up on our doorstep he must have seen the words sucker written on my forehead. I am a major germophobe and was sold... Read full review »
Kirby Stays at my house--
I've been considering selling my G5 Kirby, because,
1. It is too darn heavy with its carpet attachment on it
2. It is too darn heavy without its carpet attachment on it.
But what the heck, I have hard wood floors throughout most of the house, and haven't used that carpet...

Awesome vacuum!
Let me give you some perspective about from where this review comes. I collect vacuums (mostly antiques, some modern) as a hobby... I have about 30 machines in total. I sold vacuums for Sears for two years and sold Kirbys door to door for about three days, and that was 5 years ago. I know more... Read full review »
Still satisfied
We bought the G5 unit back in 1996 of course from a pushy salesman. Since we all know how that all goes, and how that is the most disatisfying part of this vacuum, I will not mention it from here on.
So first the design. This definatly is not like any other vacuum on the market (then and...

10 Years and Still Sucks
We purchased the Kirby G5 vacuum in 1997. Horrendously overpriced, I'm still not sure how we ended up paying over $1,000 for a vacuum cleaner (note to anyone considering, the price IS negotiable).
We have used this vacuum regularly for a decade now. It's survived two shelties and two...

Just will not work!!!
I got my Kirby from my mom. It's a g5, and worked fine for her, she just got tired of having to go out of her way to buy bags. Well when I went to use it for the first time, it did not work. No power no nothing. I found a vacuum business that worked on several different vacuums and Kirby was one of... Read full review »
Love this!!
The saleslady really pushed us but I'm glad we own this vacuum. We paid about $1,000 for the vacuum, attachments, carpet shampooer, floor waxer and buffer. I love the strong suction power of this vacuum and versatility.
If you are buying it because of the carpet shampooer, don't. It works...

BUY A KIRBY, AND LOVE TO CLEAN!
I, like many who read this, have had one of the Kirby salesmen enter my home. I already know most vacuums can go over the floor again and again usually removing something that was missed prior. Also, MOST of the attachments would be comparable on any vacuum. Further, the price tag is daunting to... Read full review »
The Best Vacuum You Could Buy
I must first start by saying that I am something of a vacuum aficionado. Ever since I was a kid, I was always fascinated at how these machines worked and I loved seeing what they could do. I hate buying appliances that do only one thing one way. When I first saw that a Kirby could be converted into... Read full review »
I have wanted a Kirby ever since I was a newlywed!
I got married in 1963, and like most newlyweds, we were on a tight budget. Outfitting a home with all the essentials took its toll, and I had to settle for an inexpensive vacuum cleaner. I had the idea that when that one gave up the ghost, I would get the Kirby I wanted. However, each time we... Read full review »
Kirby Vacuum
The Kirby Vacuum is a fairly interesting piece of equipment. It has multiple attachments to assist with getting under couches, cleaning upholstery/drapes, shampooing carpet, and for cleaning hardwood floors/stairs. Unfortunately, the vacuum and its attachments are extremely overpriced, and rather... Read full review »
Great Machine but Way Overpriced
My ex and I used to own a Kirby G5 Upright. Honestly, I have to admit that I loved the machine but would have never paid the $1400 this vacuum cleaner cost. Still, Kirby does make great quality products, products that last for generations. Below are some of my experiences living with it, the... Read full review »
this vacuum sucks the big 1
the only thing i like about this vacuum is that it can suck dirt up. it is so heavy!!! i am an active 17 yr. old girl and i still have a hard time pushing this thing around. (YES I HAVE THE GEARS SET CORRECTLY)you would think for how much my mom paid for the damn thing, it would be under 30 - 40... Read full review »
Great Vacuum
This is what Kirby is about!! Quality is outstanding. Performance is excellent. Reliability is marvelous. I purchased this vacuum new following an in-home demonstration and have loved it ever since. I knew that Kirby was the best. My Nana bought a rebuilt SANITRONIC over 30 years ago and it is... Read full review »
My Kirby Is Nothing Special
Ok, well, I bought my kirby g5 about 3 years ago used, and let me tell you, its a great product!
I mostly used it for vacuuming and it worked great! Unfortunately, it is extremely heavy and bulky and it wouldn't be a very good buy for someone with arthritis, back problems, or anything...

My neighbor's loss is my gain!
You're going to find this hard to believe, but my Kirby G5 came to me by way of a neighbor's garbage. It's true! I was driving home from work one morning, and as I drove past a neighbor's house I noticed that they had put out a vacuum cleaner. Upon further inspection, I realized it was a Kirby G5... Why I love my Kirby G5 - corny but true!
I absolutely love this machine and feel that the positives far outweigh the negatives. I have been using my G5 for several years and would never consider going back to a plastic vacuum. I really believe that if taken care of this machine will be the only cleaner that I will ever buy. It is made out... Read full review »
