Kidkraft Pastel Play Kitchen Set - KID53181

We purchased this KidKraft kitchen for our daughters' Christmas gift! They LOVE it! It has seen hours of play and is wearing fairly well. I researched before purchasing and discovered that for the cost this unit was durable and would last through their childhood years. The reviews on other sights indicated that it would take hours to put together so we did not wait until Christmas Eve. We put it together a couple days before Christmas and it took just about 2 1/2 hours to assemble. The directions were so easy to follow and very straightforward. It did take two of us (my husband and myself). The only flimsy issue is with the backsplash - it is made out of cardboard and not particle board, but we have the unit pushed up against the wall and it has not been an issue with my girls. The doors are solid and close well with the latch system. We actually had an issue with some missing parts and called the 1-800# provided with the directions and we received not only the part that was missing but and entire new package of all the screws! And we got them THE VERY NEXT DAY! That alone sold me on KidKraft! They were amazing in handling the situation quickly realizing it was near Christmas. The paint on the bottom edges of the doors is showing some wear, but other than that everything else looks great. I was disappointed that the sink was not made out of stainless steel material - it is plastic, but after playing with it I realize it is a blessing that it is not steel material - imagine all the crashing and clanging noises. :)  The only other drawback is that the girls were not yet tall enough to open the freezer door or the microwave, but that could also be a positive because it means it is a tall unit and will not be outgrown too quickly. My 6 yr. old niece also loves playing with this kitchen and it will be perfect for an 8 yr.old too! It comes with a play cordless phone and the girls like mimicking me and pretending to cook and talk on the phone. The oven and dishwasher have amazing storage space for all the girls pots and pans. The refrigerator has two areas that store the food and condiments and the freezer is being used right now to store their aprons, oven mitts, etc. I like that it doubles as storage!
