Keurig Elite B40 Coffee Maker

About three Christmases ago, my sister in-law had gotten a Keurig Elite B40 coffee maker for my mother-in-law.  She was absolutely raving about the magnificence of this machine.  Now me being a one cup a day coffee drinker, I am always looking for that perfect coffee maker for just that purpose.

So, with my $50 Target gift card, I went to Target and purchased one of these coffee makers, gladly paying the difference of the other $50.  I was so excited to try my new machine I could hardly wait to get home!

When I got home, I unpacked the machine from the box and set it up on the kitchen counter.  I cleaned out the water basin and filled it with water.  The reservoir holds 48oz of water (about 8 cups) which stays semi-heated until you start it up for your next cup of coffee.  It is removable for easy cleaning and filling. On the initial set up it takes a few minutes for the water to heat up before you are ready to brew.

The coffeemaker came with a sample pack of different coffees, different brands and flavors.  I tried the Van Houtte french vanilla for my first cup.  After the water was ready I stuck my mug on the removable drip tray (the cover comes off so you can use a tall mug too) pulled the bar up stuck my K-cup in the little slot closed it and pushed the brew button.  Within less than a minute I had a cup of hot coffee.  It was very tasty! 

There are a few other Keurig models that have other features that this one doesn't, like a clock and being able to adjust the temperature.  This model is very basic and I am very pleased with the performance so far.  The only thing I would complain about is that I have to drink my coffee kind of fast because it cools off pretty fast and the machine is a bit noisy when it starts brewing.  also, occasionally some of the grounds will leak through the hole into your coffee cup, but this is rare.

The Keurig B40 has an automatic shut off feature which will shut off the machine after 2 hours.  It only has one setting for a 7.25 oz brew.  There is also a de-scaling feature where you place distilled vinegar in the reservoir about every six months and run it through the machine to clean it out. 

You can purchase K-cups on-line, at Target or Bed Bath and Beyond with a pretty big variety of brands like Green Mountain, Tully's , Gloria Jean's and Van Houtte just to name a few.  You can also buy tea K-cups as well as Hot Chocolate.  The K-cups can be a bit pricey but some places offer coupons.  This machine is so easy to use even my kids can manage it.  I have used it myself almost every day since the day I bought it.

For someone like me who does not drink very much coffee and I am not very good at making coffee in a traditional pot this is perfect.  I think the coffee is delicious every time and extremely easy to make!  The Keurig Elite B40 is a purchase I recommend for anyone who loves coffee and it makes a perfect gift too!
