Pros None
Cons Very Hard to Start, Blade Clutch keeps failing
Recommended it? No

I've never spent this much on a lawn mower and I've never had to take one back for service. I've had this one since November (7 months) and it's getting ready to go back to the shop for the fourth time.

It will never start before the 4th or 5th pull. I keep telling the dealer this isn't... Read full review »

Pros Easy Start. Three speeds nice. Nice Cut
Cons Maintenance required every year.
Recommended it? No

I did quite a bit of research before buying the mower. I am in my fourth year, and am now looking for a new mower. When it works, it is a good efficient mower. It cuts nice, and the three speeds are great.

However, the maintenance required to keep this thing running is terrible. The first... Read full review »

This is the best 21" mower I have used.

Pros A great machine, powerful engine, smooth cut, ease of controls.
Cons Noise, gear drive system (explained below)
Recommended it? Yes

This mower is a powerful machine. It has a monstrous 6.5 hp engine (which is pretty large for a 21" mower). I haven't been able to get this thing to stall, I've used it in wet, tall grass, and it hasn't completely stopped. The steel, domed deck is a great design, it can hold a lot of grass... Pros LIGHT WEIGHT,EXCELLENT MULCHING
Cons NONE
Recommended it? Yes

I recently purchased the Js60 model after looking at toro's and lawn boy's and honda's because it by far has the best build quality. I let my lawn over grow while I was researching a new mower and this mower went right through it. This mower is built very well. I used to have a craftsman... Read full review »

Nice Mower...Not So Nice Price

Pros 3-speed self propelled, 4-stroke engine, quick & easy starting
Cons Pricey, no throttle control lever
Recommended it? Yes

I bought the John Deere JS63 self-propelled walk behind lawn mower in August, 2001 at The Home Depot. I brought it home, opened up the instruction booklet, and started reading. Fortified with the wherewithals of my new lawn mower, I started putting it together. The mower went together very easily... Read full review »

Great mower! ( Update: Still running like a Deere 5 years later!)

Pros 3 in 1 mowing, soft tires, 3 speeds, 1 pull starting. Multching. Looks good.
Cons Rear wheel drive
Recommended it? Yes

I looked at the Honda mowers and the John Deere mowers. I went with the JD JS63 mower because of the price, 3 in 1 mowing, self propelled (3 speeds)and a little bit heavier deck, I did not like the plastic deck that the Honda had. So far I have had good luck with this mower I purchased it last... Read full review »

A Strong Performer

Pros Strong engine & power train, easy to change from mulch to bag, and three speeds.
Cons Small opening in bag makes it a pain to empty.
Recommended it? Yes

I've only used the mower a few times but I have cut wet grass and used both mulch and bag modes. The mower has a strong engine & power train and the three speeds are just enough for all needs. The underside is smooth and I experienced no clogging. Having used a Troy Built 5 h.p. mulcher for the... Read full review »

Pros Kawasaki OHV 4 Cycle Engine, great job of engineering, manicures lawn, well built and...
Cons I like to tinker but this mower only starts and runs, I am bored!
Recommended it? Yes

The John Deere JX75 is a 5 speed mower that goes from a very slow walk to a moderate jog. The engine is a 6 Horse Power OHV Kawasaki that is extremely powerful, actually more powerful than the commercial mowers I previously owned which were in the $1000.00 price range. It is also quite a bit... Read full review »

Good, Bad, and Ugly...

Pros Caster wheels (JS63C); one-pull start; three speeds
Cons Pain-in-the-rear bag; weight; noise; steel deck
Recommended it? No

Let me start with a disclaimer; I am a new homeowner (1 year now) and in the 30 years prior to me buying a home, I have used a lawn mower less than 10 times (terrible hay fever as a kid).

That being said, I'll get right to the point.

THE GOOD:
Very easy to begin using... Read full review »
