Very Poor Design
Have owned this mower for over three years and can honestly say this is about the worst mower I have ever owned. It will not cut grass that is either a little damp or a little too tall. Stay away from John Deere. Anything runs better.

It works, but that's about it.
This is a reasonably expensive self-propelled walker that acts like a prima donna. If you're used to a no fuss, durable lawn mower, this is not your ticket. Solid and reliable
I've owned the JA60 walk behind mower for 6 years and have not had a single repair issue in that time. I do maintain the mower meticulously (oil changes, spark plugs, filters, sharp blades, etc.) I mow about a quarter of an acre once a week or so for about four months out of the year. I will concur... I purchased this mower from Home Depot for $469 in July 2001. I paid that much because I wanted durability. It looks and feels sturdy.

Great Mower
I would highly recommend this mower to anyone who wants to spend the extra money. It has a powerful engine and god features. The engine has always been a bit noisy, but other than that no major problems.
