The new JVC XV-523 DVD / CD player is wrapped in a sleek and fashionable looking champagne color. That's just the outside. The inside is set up so that there is no interference what-so-ever. Recommended it? Yes

JVC XV-523GD can play CD-R and CD-RW discs in addition to regular DVD-Video, Video CD and CD-Audio. Not all players on the market do that, so if you mix your own CDs (or burn Video CD) or plan to do so, you might consider this model or other players that play CD-R/W (like Pioneer-333, etc.).

I received this player recently as a gift. Though I have seen and used many DVD players, this one is the first I've actually owned.

Pros Complete set of audio and video outputs. Jog-shuttle on player. Plays CD-R's.
Cons Picture loses some detail in very dark areas of image.

The JVC XV-523GD plays CD-R's as well as DVD's and regular CD's. It also has a good array of outputs, including just about every output jack except for analog 5.1-channel (it doesn't have an internal digital surround-sound decoder, so it would have no use for these kinds of outputs).
