Great camcorder for anyone with a PC DVD Writer
Small size, no media, cool factor, easy PC interface
Short battery life, Grainy low light images, Not a great still camera.
After years of borrowing camcorders from friends or family I finally found one I liked enough to buy. I purchased the Everio from HHGregg the day they got them in after reading about it on JVC's site. After getting to use it some I am very impressed. Video quality in well-lit indoor or outdoor shooting is awesome, stills aren't too bad, and low-light performance is satisfactory if not spectacular. The camera is easy to use, but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who doesn't have or plan to immediately buy a PC DVD burner. It's really designed to work hand in hand with one and if you have a DVD writer in your computer there are few camcorders that offer as much performance and convenience.
The only thing that took a little getting used to was the tiny size of the camcorder...at .81 lb with battery it's shockingly light and very very compact.
Battery life was right at an hour of recording time, so extra batteries are pretty much a must. Hopefully JVC will release a 2 hour battery in the near future.
